McNeil-Ward is 6-2 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a balanced athletic stance, two-tap stride on line, short load back to a slight wrap. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and quick to the ball, uphill swing path, showed a pull approach with power present and plenty of loft in his swing, exit velocity was 96. Ran a 6.77 60 yard dash.

TPG West

McNeil-Ward is 6-2 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a balanced athletic stance, strides on line, smooth load back to a wrap. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and very quick to the ball, whippy bat, uphill swing path, showed a pull approach, strong at contact with extension through the ball, power is present to pull side, exit velocity was 90. In the outfield, gets behind the ball and aggressively fields through it with soft hands, quick clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters slot, loose quick arm, position velocity was 88. Ran a 6.92 60 yard dash.

Preseason All-State II

McNeil-Ward is a Virginia Tech commit and is 6-2 with a lanky frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open athletic stance, short stride on line, short smooth load, good rhythm to setup, hips rotate completely and violently, good balance during his swing. Very short and quick to the ball, keeps hands inside, level swing path with strength at contact and extension uphill through contact, showed good approach working the middle of the field, swing has natural loft and ball will carry in gaps, potential to add more power as he gets stronger, exit velocity was 90. In the outfield, rounds ball and fields off to side with above average hands. Works through ball, clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, arm is loose and lightning quick, position velocity was 89. Ran a 3.96 home to first. On the mound, he throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with short loose arm action that is very quick and normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are on level and online, lands closed with an athletic finish. Fastball was 77-81 with some late life to it, cuts when thrown to glove side and runs when thrown to armside. Curveball was 66-70 with good armspeed and hard 11/5 break.

Underclass Games

McNeil is a recent Virginia Tech commit and is 6-2 with a lanky frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance. Short stride on line, smooth load back, rhythm to his swing, explosive hips rotate completely while he maintains balance. Short to ball with some bat speed, extension through the baseball and some whip to his bat, good barrel awareness, line drive swing with an uphill finish, showed good approach using whole field, exit velocity was 84. In the outfield, gets behind ball and plays through it to exchange, fields with above average hands. Clean exchange throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a loose quick arm and some carry on his ball, outfield velocity was 87. Has speed, ran a 4.21 home to first. On the mound throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a short, lightning quick arm action and normal effort. Shoulders close off and he lands slightly closed with an athletic finish. Fastball was 79-82, touching 84, with downward plane and some late run to it. Curveball was 69-71 with good armspeed and hard 10/4 break.

Pre-season All-State

McNeil is 6-2 and has a lanky frame with a lot of projection left, he hits from the right side from an open, upright balanced stance. Short stride on line, smooth load back, good rhythm to setup. Explosive lower half and good balance to swing. Short and quick to ball, works slightly uphill with extension through contact, some whip to has bat, keeps hands in. Line drive hitter with some doubles pop, plenty of potential to add more, exit velocity was 83. In the outfield, gets body behind ball and fields with average hands. Throws from three-quarters arm slot with a short loose arm that is quick, outfield velocity was 87. Has quickness, ran 4.00 home to first. On the mound, throws from a higher three-quarters arm slot with a short, free arm action that is quick. Normal effort to his delivery, shoulders uphill and closed, lands on line with an athletic finish. Fastball was 80-82 with downward plane and a bit of late run. Change-up is straight at 72-75 with good armspeed. Curveball was 66-70 with hard late 11/5 break and good armspeed, swing and miss pitch already.
