6/6/17 - Michigan commit. Currently ranked No. 7 overall in Wisconsin’s 2017 class and No. 240 overall in the 2017 class. A physical specimen at 6-foot-5, 220-pounds. Stoic figure on the mound, showed no emotion throughout the entire game, all business. A low ¾ arm slot coupled with working towards first base, makes him a terror for left-handed hitters to face. Fastball, arm-side-run, sat 84-86, touching 87. Slider, tight action, worked both sides of the plate, 74-77 mph. Changeup flashed fade action. Lost a 2-1 decision versus Beloit Turner in the sectional semis, pitched seven innings, surrendering two runs, striking out nine.
5/25/17 - Michigan commit. Currently ranked No. 7 in the Wisconsin Class of 2017. 6-foot-5, 215-pound left-handed pitcher with a durable frame. Works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long arm action. Tall and fall, slow paced delivery. Generates effortless arm speed. Fastball shows late running action through the zone sitting 86-87 topping out at 88 mph. Slider showed two place action with late breaking action at 75-77 mph. Worked five innings allowing just four hits, no runs, and striking out seven.
2017 Super 60 - Michigan recruit. 6-foot-5, 215-pound left-handed pitcher, sturdy, athletic, well-proportioned frame. Has continued to show physical development over the years with room for more growth; overall workhorse-type build. Fluid, balanced, low-effort delivery, repeats well. Longer arm action, clean and uninterrupted, high-3/4 slot, above-average arm speed. Pumped all strikes with three pitches during his bullpen. Fastball sat 84-86 with arm-side run; likely much more velocity to come if/when pitches with more urgency. Slider can be a plus offering, 76-78 mph, tight spin, short action. Changeup, too, is excellent offering, 76-77, thrown with similar arm speed, late fading action.
6.21.16 - Michigan recruit. 6-foot-5, 205-pound left-handed pitcher, athletic, well-proportioned, highly projectable frame. Fluid, balanced delivery, repeats well. Longer arm action, high 3/4 slot, works free and easily. Fastball sat 84-85 mph with arm-side run; tendency to leave up in game. Slider ranged between 75-76, more lateral action - have seen it previously in the 78-80 range. Changeup ranged 76-78, good feel for pitch. Overall has solid three-pitch mix. With his size and easy arm action, Dragani has intriguing upside.
2/28/16 - Michigan commit. 6-foot-5, 200-pound left-handed pitcher, excellent frame, projects well and showing added maturity in his build. Balanced and repeatable delivery, online and lands closed, squared finish. Arm action is long and quick, high ¾ slot. Fastball looked easy at 86-87 mph, showed action to arm side, slight sink. Slider is firm and thrown aggressively, flashed sweep, 78-81 mph, tight rotation with short hard break. Changeup showed good feel, fastball arm speed, slight sinking action, 79-81 mph, well above average offering. High follow 2017 prospect, possible draft follow.
10/13/15 - Verbally commits to Michigan.
7/31/15 - At 6-foot-4, 190-pounds, Dragani has been the prototypical projectable lefty for a couple years now. We’ve seen him since early in his freshman year and love his upside, which is one reason why he came into the Future Games as the highest ranked available prospect in Wisconsin’s 2017 class. Dragani has one of the easier arm actions you’ll see producing an 80-83 mph fastball, touching 84 mph. He couples that with a hard darting slider at 75-77 mph, which we’ve previously seen up to 79 mph, so the hand speed is clearly there. In two innings of work, Dragani didn’t allow a hit and induced four groundouts. Dragani is already a hot commodity but once he makes that velocity jump, and he will, he could project as one of the top arms in the Midwest.
7/12/15 - 6-foot-4, 190-pound Long limbed, lanky build. Smooth delivery, clean arm action. Average arm speed, ball jumps out of hand and gets on hitters quickly. Sat 83-85 in the first inning, didn’t have his best stuff. Battled through the first innings and settled in at 77-81. Went 6+ innings of work, pitching to contact, inducing soft ground balls and lazy fly outs. Good feel on the mound, mixed his holds and kept runners at bay.
2/8/15 - Long lean projectable frame, 6-foot-4, 190-pound two-way player, high ceiling on the mound, prototypical pitcher frame. Delivery is free and easy, very balanced, minimal effort, smooth and directional. Arm action is clean, loose, high ¾ slot, comes out easily with no effort. Commands fastball well, late sinking action, pitched at 82-83 mph, good action in the zone, advanced pitch for age. Slider is vastly improved, plus pitch for age, 78-79 mph, late sharp action, tight rotation, excellent arm speed, good feel stayed around the zone, swing and miss action. Changeup has advanced feel, showed ability to command it, fastball similar arm action, 75-77 mph. High follow 2017 prospect. Offensively hits from a tall setup, short stride, lower half works well, excellent balance at contact. Loose easy hitter, repeats well. 83 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively showed good footwork around the bag, fluid easy athlete, 74 mph across the diamond, 7.59 runner in the 60.
7/14/14 - 6-foot-3, 175-pound lanky, projectable left-handed hitting LHP/1B currently ranked No. 2 in Wisconsin’s 2017 class. Impressed as the top two-way player in attendance at the 2017 Top Prospect Games. Hits from a tall, narrows setup, with slight leg kick, and short, smooth, level bat path producing 79 mph exit velocity. Showed good feet around the bag at first, and feel for turning the double play. Ran 4.63 from home to first. Projects well on the mound throwing from short, loose, high ¾ arm slot with easy effort. Utilizes tall and fall delivery with level shoulders, keeping lower half in-line with home. Fastball sat 79-82 mph with run, and late finish through the zone. 72-74 mph slider showed sweeping action, backing up/spinning at times. 76 mph changeup showed plus action with arm side run on a swinging strike three. Dragani is a high level prospect on the mound, but showed he could handle the bat as well.
2/9/14 - Highly projectable frame, long limbed, lean build, 6-foot-3, 175-pound left handed two way player, prototypical pitchers frame. Projects better on the mound, delivery is smooth with a high rate of repeatability, works online with control of body, tall and fall delivery shows no effort. Arm action is long, free and easy, high ¾ slot. Showed advanced command of his fastball for his age, with run, 75-77 mph. Changeup has fading action, near fastball arm speed, shows feel, 67-69 mph. Breaking ball showed some slider action, 72-73 mph. Hits from the left side, balanced stance, short stride, average balance. 79 mph exit velocity. Defensively plays with a long arm action across the diamond, 73 mph.
11/10/19: Wolverines sent a Tommy John recipient of their own to the mound for the seventh, redshirt sophomore LHP Ben Dragani. Still working his way back to what made him the top pitcher in Wisconsin during his senior year of high school, Dragani did not show much arm speed on this look. However, he was effective throwing a scoreless inning, while mixing an 83-85 mph fastball and an above average, deceptive 76-77 mph changeup.
