1B/LHP Jackson Brewer (Homestead, 2024), a former Future Gamer and current No. 6 player in the state, came away one of the weekend's biggest winners with his strong showing on both sides of the ball. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound left-handed hitter put on a show during BP, reaching up to 99.3 mph for his max exit velocity with a 90.7 mph average. He creates easy power from his frame, staying short to the ball with a flat to uphill path, working line-drives and hard elevated contact up the middle and to the opposite field. Defensively, Brewer showed a quick and live arm with soft hands - his max velocity on throws to third base was 89 mph. During his ‘pen, he showed a fluid arm action out of a ¾ slot with a fastball thatsat 84-85 mph with carry and life through the zone. He mixed in a slider and changeup; his slider showed sweeping actions with depth that he found around the zone; his changeup plays with fade and depth, and he showed feel for the arm side.
8/24/22
Brewer has legitimate two-way tools, and after he reached an easy 88.3 mph high in a winter ‘pen, it looked like his arm talent would be too good to consider him anything but a pitching prospect – but Brewer continues to hit, and for power. While the velocity ticked down on the mound at the end of two long spring and summer seasons, the arm talent remains intact, but his impressive left-handed bat strength and bat-to-ball skills have created a floor here for him to hit at any level, it appears. He averaged an exit speed of 89.8 mph at the PBR Future Games and reached a 96.6 max. Brewer leverages his long, strong 6-foot-3, 195-pound stature well in the batter’s box to spray line-drives to all fields. In game, we’ve seen Brewer launch home runs to his pull-side on several different occasions, including in the championship game of the PBR at The Rock 16U Championships. His swing is at the top of the charts measured by Blast Motion, with top-of-the-scale hand speed (23.7 mph average), bat speed (75.8 mph max), rotational acceleration (19.2 mph average), and he gets on-plane dynamically. He moves well for his size, too, having run a 7.05 in the 60-yard dash at the Future Games at a top speed of 20.1 mph, per Swift.
7/27/22
Brewer put up some of his personal best statistics at the showcase portion of the Future Games during the BP portion of the day. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound hitter had a max exit velocity of 97 mph and max distance of 338 feet, both were the highest of his young prep career. About two-thirds of batted balls were hard hit from Brewer, as he looked comfortable and relaxed in the batters box. The same tools displayed themselves from the first base position, as he reached 83 mph after throwing across the infield. Brewer was one of the winners from the showcase on Wednesday, and will be a prospect that continues to keep that momentum up throughout the tournament.

On the mound, the southpaw moves athletically throughout his delivery, utilizing an efficient lower-half with a drop/drive movement pattern, striding slightly across his body and into a closed landing foot. His arm played long out of the glove into a loose ¾ slot and produced an ultra-easy fastball that topped out at 88 mph, running naturally to his arm-side. Brewer showed two quality off-speed pitches throughout his pen, the first being a slider that plays off a 2/8 plane with sweep across the zone, showing some feel at 71-72 mph. The second offering was a changeup that he throws with fastball intent, fading to the arm-side at 72-75 mph. It’s a mature three-pitch mix that should only continue to improve as Brewer matures. Brewer also showed well in the positional segments, working from a tall setup and a flat barrel set, while swinging at 74.5 mph of barrel speed, 71% hard hit rate, and generating some clean pull-side flights when timed up. In the field his feet worked well, his arm was clean and adjustable, and he possessed a clear feel for the different plays. He’s amongst the top uncommitted prospects in the Badger State’s sophomore class.

Brewer is a smooth and easy hitter with similar actions around the bag. It’s a level path swing that stays on top of the baseball and gets good extension through impact, resulting in a ton of line-drive, up-the-middle contact.
