INF/RHP Sam Hoeft (Port Washington, 2025) was a workhorse for his high school team, and has used that experience to find success over the course of the 2023 summer circuit as a two-way prospect, showing well at The Rock. Standing at an athletic 6-foot-3, 180-pounds, Hoeft showed well at the plate, utilizing his wiry frame and strength within his hands to drive the baseball. That transitioned into live gameplay, where Hoeft, playing against a majority of prospects a year older than himself, went 1-for-1 late in the game. He also threw a clean inning on the mound, using a low-80s fastball and late breaking slider to navigate through the order. Hoeft’s projection and present tools make him an intriguing follow for the future, as our staff will get another look at him at the 16U PBR at The Rock Tournament this weekend. 

Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 6-3, 180-pounds. Long, lanky frame that projects.
Hit: RHH. Slight crouch athletic set up, open set up, rhythmic gather into back hip, lands centered into strong launch position.  Wiry hand strength. Fast through the zone, uphill path, gap-to-gap approach.  72.9 mph bat speed with 15 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 92 max exit velocity, averaged 88.8 mph. 330’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 84 mph. 3/4 slot, will change arm slot, accurate.
Defense: Two hand gather under midline, aggressive through the ball.
Run: 6.99 runner in the 60.

Delivery: Drop and drive delivery, extension down the mound.
Arm Action: RH. Short, quick arm action from a high 3/4 slot.
FB: T82, 78-81 mph. Life out of the hand, some feel for the zone. T2267, 2047 average rpm.
CB: 68-69 mph. Gradual break, 11/5 shape. T1736, 1656 average rpm.
SL: 69-69 mph. Late break, able to backdoor lefties. T1682, 1682 average rpm.

INF/RHP Sam Hoeft (Port Washington, 2025) was another sophomore who impressed our staff in Green Bay. The two-way prospect is listed at 6-foot-3, 180 pounds, with long levers and a projectable build. In his bullpen, his fastball sat 83-85 mph with late tail finish through the zone. He showed a curveball that he can land for strikes with an 11/5 break, and a slider with short lateral break that he can land for strikes, too. During batting practice, he showed the ability to impact the ball gap-to-gap with quick hands that produced a max exit velocity of 89.8 mph, and a max batted ball distance of 331 feet. Defensively, he showed soft hands and quality actions. He recorded a max infield velocity of 79 mph.

Delivery: Higher tempo, medium leg lift, high leg swing finish to home with balance and a quiet head.
Arm Action: RH. Medium on-line arm swing, 3/4 slot.

CB: 68-70 mph. 11/5 break can land. T1539, 1362 average rpm.
