Class of 2017 Showcase: Stats Posted

The Class of 2017 Showcase got off to a fast start at Plunkett Park in Elmhurst, Illinois. The event was open to the class of 2017 and consisted of prospects from all over the state of Illinois.

The first event of the day may have been the most impressive. 12 of the 53 position players at the event ran the 60 under 7.0. David Chianelli (Andrew) and Stephen Mogged (Lakes Community) both ran 6.6’s locking down the top two spots in the 60. Noel Rodriquez was close behind with a 6.76. Chianelli later showed that he has some juice in the bat with a 91 mph exit velocity.

There was also quality arm strength shown from the outfielders in the defensive portion of the event. Not only did Stephen Mogged run a 6.67, he also had the top outfield velocity at the event at 88 mph. On top of it all Mogged also mixed in an 87 mph exit velocity showing the combination of speed, arm strength and power to play at the next level. Connor Peplow (Plainfield North) a relative unknown to Prep Baseball Report proved to have one of the stronger arms in the Illinois 2017 class. He took home the top pitcher velocity at 88 mph. He also had the second best outfield velocity at 87 mph.
