Future Games Spotlight: OF Michael Gunartt

Name: Michael Gunartt

Graduating Class: 2017

Position: OF

School: Niles West

Height: 6-2

Weight: 175

State: 40

The Skinny:
Gunartt has flown somewhat under the radar, but we're guessing not for long. Highly athletic, quick-twitch prospect with considerable upside. Has been a varsity performer since his freshman year. Raw athlete with high-ceiling tools. Possesses loose, athletic hands with burgeoning power at the plate. Runs well for size, and has above-average arm strength in the outfield.

Scouting Report:
6-foot-2, 175-pound, right-handed hitting 1B/OF, with a strong athletic build. Currently ranked No. 40 in the Illinois Class of 2017. In the field showed a loose strong arm. Played first base in game and showed good footwork around the bag with athletic actions. At the plate has a confident approach. Hits from a relaxed slightly open stance. No wasted movement at the plate. Manages to stay short to the ball with long arms, line drive swing plane. Plus bat speed for age with some pop. Good feel for the barrel and squares up pitches. Above average runner for high school. 4.44 down the line, long strides slowed up at the end to avoid contact with first baseman. Went 2-4 in game with a line drive HR to RF. (Game report during season)
