Prep Baseball Report - Missouri/Kansas held the Unsigned Prospect Showcase at Hoover Field in Wichita, Kansas on Saturday, November 4.  Nearly 60 players in the 2018 and 2019 classes participated from Missouri and Kansas.

Player profiles have been updated with profile picture, running time, throwing velocities and videos.  Today, we will break down the outfielders from the event, and in the days to come we will break down the event position-by-position. Players are listed alphabetically below.

Outfielders

Zach Gillig OF / 3B / Valley Center, KS / 2018

Gillig is an athletically built with long levers 6-foot-2 180-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2018 class.  He ran a 7.72 60 and a 4.42 home to first.  He has an 87 mph exit  velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, smooth load into back side, short stride, hands separated from body, occasional power to pull side, slight lift on bat path, solid middle to pull side contact in batting practice.  In the outfield, 79 mph positional velocity, quick to the ball, working behind the ball, fluid exchange with momentum through the catch, high three quarters release. 

Trezmond Jackson OF / OF / Center , MO / 2018

Jackson is a strong 5-foot-10 170-pound switch-hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2018 class.  At the plate, starts slightly open on the right side and starts slightly closed on left side, short stride with minimal hand movement, quick hands create bat whip, swing produced middle of the cage line drives, gap to gap approach from both sides.  In the outfield, 74 mph positional velocity. Clean exchange, short crow hop, over the top release, fluid footwork. 

Gage Kennedy OF / C / Maize , KS / 2018

Kennedy is a lean 5-foot-10 150-pound right-handed outfielder in Kansas’ 2018 class.  He ran a 7.50 60 and a 4.51 home to first.  At the plate, starts slightly open, no wasted movement in load, quiet in line stride, hands manage the bat, loose whip with feel for barrel, gap to gap approach, body stays under control during swing. In the outfield, 78 mph positional velocity,  quick catch and throw, arm works, over the top release, quick and short arm action, accurate throws, athletic footwork playing through the ball.

Dylan Lankford LHP / OF / Lee's Summit North, MO / 2019

Lankford is a lean and athletic 5-foot-10 155-pond left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2019 class. He ran a 7.33 60 and a 4.49 home to first.  He has an 84 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, slightly closed stride, repeatable and simple, controlled load, accelerated swing, loose hands, level path, gap to gap line drives during hitting evaluations, showed feel for the barrel.  In the outfield, 78 mph positional velo, athletic actions, fluid footwork on time with exchange, momentum through the catch, over the top arm slot, loose arm action, throws are mostly accurate with carry. 

Tayler Mahoney SS / OF / Olathe Northwest, KS / 2019

Mahoney is a lean and long levered 6-foot-1 175-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 7.25 60 and 4.26 home to first.  He has an 82 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, slightly closed set up, loads in back side with toe touch, mostly pull to middle line drives during batting practice, flashed pull side power.  In the outfield, 83 mph positional velocity, aggressive to the ball, transfer and feet on time together, over the top release, crow hop, plays through the ball,

Duffin Makings OF / 1B / Marshall , MO / 2019

Makings is a 5-foot-10 170-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.28 60 and a 4.41 home to first.  He has an 80 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts with some weight loaded in back side, sightly open, controlled leg lift and stride, fast bat speed, middle to pull contact during hitting evaluations, natural lift in swing path.  In the outfield, 80 mph positional velocity, quick and aggressive to the ball, plays through the ball, crow hop, over the top release, mostly accurate throws with athletic actions.

Bryson Matthews OF / 2B / Webb City, MO / 2019

Matthews is a strong 5-foot-9 165-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.45 60 and a 4.43 home to first.  He has an 85 mph positional velcoity.  At the plate, simple and smooth swing, no wasted movement with quick and loose hands, level path, solid consistent line drives gap to gap during hitting evaluations.  In the outfield, 79 mph positional velocity, fluid footwork, get momentum after the catch, clean glove to hand exchange, over the top release, accurate throws, some with carry. 

Tyler McQuinn RHP / OF / Blue Valley Northwest, KS / 2019

McQuinn is a 5-foot-6 148-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 7.49 60 and a 4.67 home to first.  He has an 83 mph exit velocity. At the plate, repeats swing well, opens stance, controlled leg lift, short in line stride, smooth and accelerated rhythm, consistent gap to gap line drives during hitting evaluations, has strength to middle of the field, feel for the barrel.  In the outfield, 84 mph positional velocity, fluid and athletic actions, under control with momentum to throw, high three quarters arm slot, mostly accurate throws.

Tyler Perry OF / C / Lees Summit , MO / 2019

Perry is a 5-foot-11 175-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.40 60 and has a 4.37 home to first. He has an 82 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, rocking type load into back side, quiet hands, short stride, slightly closed, swing path works down and through contact, mostly middle of the cage contact. In the outfield, 75 mph positional velo, high three quarters arm slot, works behind the ball, clean exchange, controlled actions.

Bobby Rivera 2B / OF / Blue Springs South, MO / 2018

Rivera is a 5-foot-8 140-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 6.91 60 and a 4.20 home to first.  He has an 89 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance, slightly closed in stride, no wasted movement in load, aggressive bat speed, level through the zone, consistent gap to gap line drives, aggressive swing with occasional power.  In the outfield, 81 mph positional velocity, high three quarters release, attacks ball, quick catch and throw, athletic footwork, mostly accurate throws.

Andrew Rogers OF / 3B / Wamego, KS / 2019

Rogers is a 5-foot-11 175-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 7.32 60 and a 4.51 home to first. He has an 84 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open and thin stance, short in line stride, stays in back leg, natural lift, quick hands, loud contact to the pull side during hitting evaluations.  In the outfield, 79 mph positional velocity, high three quarters release, controlled body, creates momentum through the catch with fluid footwork and clean transfer, mostly accurate throws,

Brogan Sipp OF / C / Eisenhower, KS / 2018

Sipp is a long levered 5-foot-11 155-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2018 class.  He ran a 7.03 60 and a 4.22 home to first.  He has an 81 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance, controlled load, short stride, smooth weight transfer, swing path works down to contact, gap to gap approach.  In the outfield, 83 mph positional velocity, short over the top release, works behind ball, clean transfer with occasional downhill release, mostly accurate throws

Dylan Swihart OF / 2B / Clay Center , KS / 2019

Swihart is a long and lean 6-foot 135-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 7.76 60 and a 4.51 home to first.  He has a 73 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, balanced stance with no wasted movement in load, short stride, hands work inside the ball, middle to oppo contact, controlled swing, hands manage the bat. In the outfield, 71 mph positional velo, controlled actions, high three quarters release, fluid footwork and exchange, mostly accurate throws.

Tristen Taylor RHP / OF / Conway , MO / 2018

Taylor is a 5-foot-8 167-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 7.66 60 and a 4.66 home to first.  He has an 80 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, short stride with hand separating from stride, quick tempo, body stays under control, level path, works inside the ball, middle to opposite field line drives.  In the outfield, 72 mph positional velocity, high three quarters release, fluid footwork with clean exchange. 

Willie Trafton OF / 2B / Lees Summit West, MO / 2019

Trafton is a 5-foot-10 160-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.50 60 and a 4.44 home to first.  He has an 82 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, reverse toe tap, fluid rhythm, loose hands, level path, gap to gap line drives, simple and repeatable swing.  In the outfield, 70 mph positional velocity, high three quarters release, catches ball with clean exchange and momentum to throw, mostly accurate throws.

Cooper Turpin C / OF / Salina Sacred Heart, KS / 2018

Turpin is a lean and projectable 6-foot-1 165-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2018 class. He ran a 7.35 60 and a 4.26 home to first.  He has an 80 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in a wide stance, short in line stride, loose hands, fast bat speed, swing produced consistent solid contact gap to gap, pull side power, level bat path. In the outfield, 80 mph positional velocity, attacks ball quickly, works through the catch, quick transfer, short over the top release, mostly accurate throws with carry.

Brady Voss OF / OF / Wentzville Liberty , MO / 2019

Voss is a strong and long levered 6-foot 155-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 6.99 60 and a 4.29 home to first.  He has a 90 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance, controlled leg kick, aggressive swing with quick bat speed, no wasted hand moment in load, middle to pull side power, repeats swing with solid hard contact.  In the outfield, athletic actions, smooth transfer with momentum through the catch, over the top release, throws down hill, accurate throws with carry, 83 mph positional velocity. 

Tanner Yeisley OF / 2B / Lees Summit North, MO / 2019

Yeisley is a 5-foot-8 175-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.34 60 and a 4.35 home to first.  He has a 79 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, open stance, control leg kick, hands separated from body, level path, gap to gap approach. In the outfield, 72 mph positional velocity, smooth footwork with clean exchange, works behind the ball, momentum after the catch, over the top release, mostly accurate throws.
