It was a historic preseason here in New York with our boots-on-the-ground scouting staff covering 700+ players at showcase events, all February long. The dust has settled and we are now ramping up our efforts in player rankings, scouting reports, and recap articles. Scouting Report

 

Physical: 6-foot-2, 180-pounds. Long athletic body with room to fill out.
Run: 7.99 runner in the 60.
Hit: LHH. Starts upright stance with feet square, moderate leg kick with hands getting back to high strong position short compact swing to contact with level barrel path through the zone.
Power: 85 MPH raw exit velocity. drove the ball through the middle showing gap to gap power potential.
Defense:  pop times. Steady foot work into a smooth transfer.
Arm: Short arm action with quick release at 3/4 slot. INF - 79 MPH. 

Pitching Delivery: Up tempo delivery with high leg kick driving off a strong backside.
Arm Action: Fast arm action from a mid 3/4 slot..
FB: T83, 80-83 MPH. Commanded low in the zone with arm side run.
CB: 65-66 MPH. 1-7 shape with shape with late break.
CH: 70-71 MPH. good arm speed with late fade in the zone.

 

Standout Skill
His standout skill would have to be his performance on the mound from what I saw. Big physical body with plenty of room to grow and only going to get better. Velocity in the low 80's, but with some minor fixes in mechanics and the right program he could easily get to mid-upper 80s. He commands his FB low in the zone on both sides of the plate. CH is able to keep same arm action to deceive the hitter with some good late action. Does an exceptional job of using his lower half to drive off his back leg. 
Player Projection
I like what I saw off the mound from Fike, his ability to have a very repeatable delivery, big frame, and fills up the zone. LHP is more where I would see him when moving forward with his career. He's only going to fill out and put more velo behind that FB as he develops with the right program. Fike has feel for his off-speed pitches and can throw all for a strike. 

Quick Hit
"6-foot-2 and 190-pounds, big frame from the 2022 graduate. Makes consistent contact, has some pop to pull side gap, and mainly works a pull side approach. Would like to see more of an athletic stance in the box and more usage of his lower half, I feel like that will give him more power. Active feet around the bag, firm glove work, ability to play laterally, smooth transfer. Three pitch and throws all for strikes. Looks comfortable on the mound."
