Pennsylvania Class of 2021 Rankings Update

Greg Williams
Pennsylvania Director of Scouting

It’s been a busy four-plus months since the last update to the Class of 2021 rankings. As we have worked our way through the fall and winter, both on the state and national levels, more light has been shed on the sophomore class around the state of Pennsylvania.

A list that began with just 10 of the top prospects statewide grows to 65 in this update. The final total will likely reach 250 or more by the time this class graduates. Certainly, this list will change and evolve in time, as we know many players will grow, develop and mature.

Many on this list will be a part of the Preseason All-State Showcase in February which annually acts as an identifier for construction of the Team Pennsylvania roster for the PBR Future Games.

+ Virginia commit, RHP Nick Bitsko (Central Bucks East) continues to hold  the No. 1 spot in the updated class of 2021 rankings after an impressive summer and fall. The 6-foot-4, 210-pounder sat 90-93 with five strikeouts over two innings of work at the PBR Fall Kickoff Showcase Tournament in August. Bitsko also showcased solid feel for his curveball at 73-76 with two-plane 11/5 shape and flashed an occasional slider with shorter break at 77-79. His changeup is thrown with good sell at 81-84. Bitsko is also ranked No. 3 in the PBR overall rankings among players in the class nationally.

+ 2018 PBR Future Games standout OF Lonnie White Jr. (Malvern Prep) sits at No. 2 in this update. The recent Clemson commit has an athletic frame at 6-foot-2, 190-pound frame and flashed a skill set that has him in early conversations for the 2021 MLB Draft. A talented three sport athlete in high school, White also has drawn interest for his skills on a football field and a basketball court.

With the changes to NCAA regulations regarding the recruiting timeline for baseball, commitments in this class have come a bit slower than in previous years. Still, 12 of the top 20 on the list have already announced their intentions to attend a Division I school. Virginia is the lone school among the group to have received more than one commitment thus far in this class.
