Illinois-Chicago commit, RHP Charlie Taczy (Cary-Grove) is an intriguing arm in the state’s 2025 class. An athletic, upside frame at 6-foot, 150-pounds, Taczy is a loose and easy mover down the mound. His arm is long and loose out of a low ¾ slot, showing a fastball that sat in the mid-80s, and topping out at 86.2 mph with high spin (avg. 2441 rpm). He also showed two impressive off-speed pitches in his slider and change-up - the slider sitting in the upper-70s with above-average spin (avg. 2775 rpm) and an average of -17.8 inches of horizontal movement, while his change-up sits 80-81 mph with an average of 19.3 inches of horizontal movement. Rounding out his four-pitch mix, Taczy threw an upper-70s sinker with arm-side run, averaging 20.6 inches of horizontal movement. He finished his two-inning stint with five strikeouts, two hits and one run allowed.

Delivery: Loose, athletic movement patterns, high leg-lift, quick pace, holds some pre-bend in the back knee down the mound, works in-line.
Arm Action: RH. Whippy, loose action, low 3/4 release. Struck out five in two innings of work, scattering one run on two hits.

Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 91 in the class of 2025. Listed at 6-foot, 155-pounds with a lean, athletic frame with room to add weight. The right-handed hitter got the start as the designated hitter and batted fourth in the lineup. Balance stance with a toe-tap trigger, consistent, compact swing through the zone, has the ability to hit to all fields. Taczy picked up two hits, going 2-for-4 on the day with a double. During his first at-bat, Taczy took an 88 mph fastball to left field for a single. Second at-bat picked up his second hit of the game on a 2-2 count, driving the baseball over the right fielder's head for a double. Taczy is currently batting .297 on the year to lead the team.
RHP Charlie Taczy (Cary-Grove, 2025) has been a consistent winner in front of our staff, especially at this event over the years, and his showing on Saturday was arguably his best to date. There’s all sorts of upside in his 6-foot, 155-pound frame, and his loose/easy moving operation indicates more velocity in the future. He showed mature feel over his arsenal, starting with his heavy sinking fastball, which worked in the 83-86 mph range with over 13” of run on average. To pair off his fastball he went to a sharp, 10/4 slider with late bite and depth, averaging just over 2,500 RPM at 75-76 mph. He also went to a heavy fading changeup with similar traits to his fastball, coming clean out of the hand with over 17” of run on average, 79 mph. Highly projectable arm that has proven to be an in-game performer.

Fresh off an Illinois State Games appearance, uncommitted RHP Charlie Taczy (Cary-Grove, 2025) put together a gritty performance against a very tough Reds Scout Team lineup on Saturday. Taczy stayed on the offensive throughout his start, going right at hitters and throwing all of his pitches for strikes. Taczy’s repertoire consisted of a low 80’s sinking-fastball (T83 mph), a horizontal-type breaking ball that played 70-73 mph, and an upper 70’s changeup that seemed to be Taczy’s out-pitch for the day. Taczy would go on to punch out 11 batters in his 5.1 innings of work. Currently ranked No. 94 in the state.
RHP Charlie Taczy (Cary Grove, 2025) brings plenty of intrigue on the mound attached to a lean, highly projectable 6-foot, 145-pound frame. An easy, fluid mover downhill, Taczy’s fastball played in the low-80s from a clean ¾ arm action, peaking at 2394 RPM. His bread-and-butter pitch is a 72-74 mph slider with heavy horizontal action at times (22.3”) that averaged 2465 RPM, peaking at 2630 RPM. Taczy also flashed a changeup at 75-78 mph that reached 23 inches of run at max, averaging 19 inches while playing from a slightly lower arm angle than his fastball.

Delivery: Athletic mover, uses high leg kick into a drop and drive delivery. Works primarily out of the stretch. Faced the ProCase team and struck out five guys in three innings of work.
Arm Action: RH. Loose arm action into a low 3/4 slot.
FB: T83, 80-82 mph. Plays with some run and heavy sink, feel for the zone. T2394, 2230 average rpm.
CB: mph. Flashed sharp break, short lateral movement, 10/4 shape. T, average rpm.
SL: 72-74 mph. Sharp sweeping action, horizontal shape, flashed feel for the zone. T2630, 2465 average rpm.
CH: 75-78 mph. Thrown with intent, plays with downer-fade and some run. T1974, 1913 average rpm.
Uncommitted. Listed at 6-foot-, 140-pounds, wiry and lanky build. Came out of the ‘pen for the Trojans and limited the potent Huntley offense to no hits, runs or walks to pair with 4 strikeouts over 4.1 innings of work. From a loose low ¾ slot, Taczy cruised with his fastball at 80-83 mph, topping out at 84 mph with heavy sink and run, producing a plethora of ground-outs. He paired a diving changeup off his fastball at 78-79 mph, maintaining looseness and arm-speed to sell the pitch, missing under barrels consistently. On top of his stellar pitching, Taczy also delivered the game-tying hit in the bottom of the seventh.
RHP Charlie Taczy (Cary-Grove) came away as an arm to follow in the 2025 class. Taczy oozes projection thanks to his 6-foot, 145-pound, loose-bodied, frame and fluid, uninterrupted quick, easy arm on the mound. Taczy was filling up the zone with a fastball up to 83.4 mph with much more to come down the road. He also is able to manipulate the baseball and get all kinds of horizontal, sinking action on a low-80s sinker that spun at an average of 2268 rpm and 15.5 inches of horizontal movement. His changeup also shows hard horizontal fade in the upper-70s and he rounds out his repertoire with a 73-75 mph slider with tight spin (2363 average rpm) and sweeping action. Would not be surprised to see Taczy make a big jump in velocity as he adds quality strength to his upside frame.

SL: 73-75 mph. Tight spin, above-average feel, late 10/4 shape. T2426, 2363 average rpm.
CH: 78-79 mph. Thrown with intent, late run and sink, bottom of the zone. T2278, 2161 average rpm.

Delivery: Stretch only, front foot starts closer to third, high/athletic leg-lift, tall/fall lower-half, stride works in-line.
