Body: 5-8, 161.8 pounds. Compact and trim build, athletic.
Hit: RHH. Wide base, toe-taps into a long stride. Strong hands, flatter path with length through the zone, line drive approach, swings with intent, hands work on top of the baseball at times, some intent to lift. 67.7 mph bat speed with 18g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 93 mph max exit velocity (86.7 avg.); 350-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 87 mph. Short arm action, high 3/4 slot.
Defense: Attacks the ball, two hand gather into body, athletic feet, short shuffle step to target, quick release, athletic double play turn.
Athletic Testing: 7.14 runner in the 60-yard dash; 27.30-inch max vertical jump.

Northern Illinois commit, currently ranked No. 36 in the state. Wiry 5-foot-8, 161-pound frame. Started a shortstop and batted in the three-hole for the Warriors in the 4A Deerfield Regional Semifinal. Newman continued to show well on both sides of the ball in Thursday’s game. Offensively, he worked from a wider setup with a medium stride, displaying loose hands and a line-drive approach. He found the barrel in two of his three at-bats, including a base hit up the middle that drove in the game’s first run. Defensively, he made several tough plays at shortstop, including a quick reaction on a bad hop read from a sharply hit grounder to make an out. Another impressive showing from the right-hander, who has put together a strong junior season for the Warriors.

Northern Illinois commit, currently ranked the No. 35 player in the state’s junior class. 5-foot-8, 161-pound frame with athleticism present. Started at shortstop and batted in the three-hole in Thursday’s game. Relaxed open setup, with some rhythm in hands, into minimum stride, displaying a line drive approach. Barreled up two hard ground balls, and reached base on a fielder’s choice to score a run. Showed fluid actions in the infield, making several tough plays and showcasing a live arm across the diamond. Fierce competitor who was a vocal leader on the field.

INF Easton Newman (Deerfield, 2026; Northern Illinois commit) had a strong all-around showing over the weekend. At the plate, the right-handed hitter has a fluid rhythm in his stroke with a longer and flat path through the zone, creating extension through impact while working to stay on top of the baseball, topping out at 94 mph with an average of 88 mph. On the infield, Newman showed athletic actions and confident hands, playing through the baseball with intent and fluid footwork (T88 mph INF).

Body: 5-10, 160 pounds.
Hit: RHH. Balanced setup, loads into backside, simple toe-tap stride. Athletic hands, creates bat speed and leverage, gap-to-gap approach. 71.5 mph bat speed with 19g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 94 mph max exit velocity (88.6 avg.).
Arm: RH. INF - 88 mph. Long, strong arm action, abilityt to throw from multiple angles.
Defense: Athletic defender, confident hands, plays through the baseball, gathers and secures through release.
Athletic Testing: 7.27 runner in the 60-yard dash; 28.70-inch max vertical jump.

Despite playing through a hamstring injury, Newman showed out this weekend and proved why he is one of the top names in Illinois ‘26 class. At the plate, Newman was consistently on the barrel with quick hands and a confident approach. The athletic, 5-foot-10, 145-pound middle infielder was clean in the field with above average arm strength. Newman’s success at the plate generated runs for Wow Factor across the tournament and impressed against competitive pitching.

MIF/OF Easton Newman (Deerfield, 2026) continues to be a name-to-know in the Illinois 2026 class. Currently ranked No. 46 in the state, the right-handed hitter put together an impressive round, reaching up to 91.9 mph with an average EV of 86.5 mph. He has loose, athletic hands, creating some whip through the zone with advanced rotational acceleration (18.1 G’s avg; T20.9 G’s). He showed quick feet with athletic actions in both the infield and outfield, ranging easily to both sides of his glove to pair with a strong arm from both positions (T86 INF; T90 OF). Highly athletic prospect, cruising to a 6.92 in the 60 with a max vertical jump of 32.4”.

Body: 5-10, 140-pounds. Athletic, wiry frame, athletic with room to add strength.
Hit: RHH. Relaxed, taller setup, some pre-pitch rhythm in his hands and front foot, hangs foot into a medium stride. Loose hands, flat path, intent to stay on top of the ball, line-drive approach, elevates up the middle at times. 67.6 mph bat speed with 18 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 92 max exit velocity, averaged 86.5 mph. 286’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 86 mph. OF - 90 mph. Can play from multiple angles, 3/4 release, loose.
Defense: INF: Quick feet, moves easily, soft hands, confident actions, fluid footwork with timing through the ball. OF: Deliberate actions, steady hands, plays through the ball.
Run: 6.92 runner in the 60.

Coming off a successful spring where he found time on Deerfield’s varsity roster, as a freshman INF/OF Easton Newman (Deerfield) is an athletic multi-positional follow in the 2026 class. The 5-foot-10, 155-pound prospect posted a 6.94 60 time before demonstrating soft, athletic hands defensively from the infield with a strong arm to pair across the diamond (84 mph). With similar actions from the outfield, he posted an 86 mph bullet on his best throw to home. Offensively, Newman swings a quick, direct right-handed barrel with an aggressive approach and stable bat-to-ball skills to pair.

Hit: RHH. Wide, open stance, fluid load, knee knock trigger. Athletic hands, creates bat speed and whip at times. Stayed on the barrel throughout his round.
Power: 89 max exit velocity, averaged 77.2 mph. 321’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 84 mph. OF - 86 mph. Long draw out of the glove, plays quick out of a 3/4 slot. Showed the ability to throw from multiple platforms when needed on the infield.
Defense: INF: Athletic overall actions and confident sequence into release; sure-handed.
OF: Bouncy, athletic footwork, plays with pace and athleticism. Attacks the baseball and plays through in rhythm. Soft, confident hands.
Run: 6.94 runner in the 60.

3/31/23

The freshman had a quality week at the plate hitting 7-for-10 (.700 avg.) with three doubles, 10 RBIs, and six runs scored. Against Von Steuben, Newman was 3-for-4 with two doubles, four RBIs, three runs scored, and a stolen base. He went a perfect 3-for-3 with a double, four RBIs, a run, and a stolen base in their 10-5 win over Palatine. Against No. 24 Grayslake Central, he tallied a hit with two RBIs and a stolen base. Newman helped Deerfield to an undefeated (3-0) record on the week.

Hit: RHH. Balanced setup, leg kick trigger, fluid load. Fluid, athletic swing, loose, quick hands, length through the zone, line-drive approach.
Power: 88 max exit velocity, averaged 75.1 mph. 168’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 84 mph. OF - 86 mph. Quick arm action.  Loose with life and carry. 
Defense: Active feet, athletic through the ball, plays through in-stride with confident hands. INF: Athletic actions, soft hands, plays with some timing through the ball .
Run: 7.19 runner in the 60.

Position: SS/OF
Body: 5-foot-7, 135-pound proportional slim build.
Hit: (RHH) Above average. Started in an athletic wide stance with a compact big load, then used a leg kick. Quick bat speed. Balanced finish, inside-out swing. Line drive approach.
Power: 85.5 mph exit velocity, average 71.7 mph. 67.3 mph bat speed average. 23.3 mph hand speed average.
Defense:  (IF) Raw hands, quick footwork, natural exchange. Above average. (OF) Soft hands, consistent footwork, twitchy exchange. Above average.  Movements laterally were average and he fields the ball to the side.
Arm: 80 mph infield velocity. 84 mph outfield velocity. Short arm action, high ¾ slot, consistent accuracy.

Body: 5-7, 125-pounds.
Hit: RHH. Open setup. Hands start back. Smooth  load into back hip. Balanced throughout. Quick athletic hands with twitch, rotates well out of load. Short path to contact, flat plane with some leverage.
Power: 82.7 max exit velocity, averaged 74 mph. 262’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 71 mph. OF - 82 mph. Clean/quick arm with backspin. INF: plays from multiple angles.
Defense: Highly athletic actions, soft hands into an athletic crow hop. INF: Highly athletic actions, fluid feet with soft hands, easy range to both sides.
Run: 7.43 runner in the 60.
