3/28/26
Miami (FL) signee. Currently ranked No. 26 in the state. Proportional, athletic 6-foot, 185-pound frame. Got the ball and turned in a clean two-inning start. Tosi works with a loose, repeatable delivery down the mound, showing a full arm action out of a high ¾ slot. His fastball sat 85-87 mph with some arm-side run, and he complemented it with a curveball that sat 66-67 mph with depth and the ability to throw it for strikes, and a changeup at 73-74 mph with fade. A talented southpaw to keep tabs on as he heads to Coral Gables in the fall. Line: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 5 K.

Verbally committed to Miami.

8/12/24

2024 Future Games: LHP Ian Tosi (Mount Carmel) was about as dominant as it gets over his two innings of work, not allowing a single hit, run or walk while striking out two. Listed at 5-foot-11, 175-pounds, the southpaw has been a mainstay at the top of Mount Carmel’s rotation as an underclassman, and he got to show his stuff on the biggest uncommitted stage. He fearlessly attacked the zone with his fastball, cruising in the mid-80s and touching 88 mph with carry through the zone. He showed feel for both his curveball and changeup, landing them both for strikes when he wanted. High-level compete factor paired with his advanced feel to pitch and arsenal makes him one of the more sought after southpaws in the state.

6/05/24

Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 18 in the state. 5-foot-11, 177-pound frame, trim build with round shoulders and some strength throughout, still holds room for added physicality. Got the start and was completely dominant over his seven innings of work, allowing just two hits, no runs, three walks and four strikeouts. He has a simple and repeatable delivery, working into a medium balance point with a slight coil, holds bend in the back knee down the mound while staying in-line. Short arm circle that hides the ball in the back, ¾ release. His fastball cruised mostly in the low-80s in the early going, but he started to pick up steam as he went on; topping out at 85 mph in the third and then 86 mph in the fourth, displaying carry traits through the zone. His changeup was his go-to weapon of choice, going to it at any time and with confidence, playing around 70-73 mph with fade and feel for the bottom part of the zone. He also flipped in a curveball with 1/7 depth to complete his arsenal, dumping it in for strikes and also landing beneath the zone at times, 65-69 mph. High-level compete factor, one of the top uncommitted arms in the state.

4/06/24

Got the start vs. De La Salle Saturday morning and was impressive throughout his six innings of work. Currently ranked No. 19 in the state, the athletic 5-foot-11, 177-pound southpaw showed a lot of poise in his start working out of trouble numerous times. His velo was down a few ticks from when we last saw him, but his stuff still played up in this look. His fastball sat 80-83 mph (T84), holding in the 80-83 range throughout with some ride through the zone. His go-to offspeed offering was a 70-73 mph changeup that played with arm-side tumble to get consistent swings and misses. Tosi went to a 1/7-shaped curveball that had some depth through the zone sparingly, as more of a show-pitch in the outing. Tosi will be a name to continue to monitor as the season progresses as the ace of the Caravan staff. Final line: 6.1 IP, 4 H, 4 BB, 2 R, 2 ER, 7 K.

2/24/24

Long known to our staff for his pitchability, LHP Ian Tosi (Mount Carmel, 2026) saw an uptick in velocity on Saturday. His fastball sat 86-87 mph, up from the 80-82 mph we saw at the Illinois State Games in August, but the metrics behind his heater made it one of the more analytically impressive pitches of the event. Tosi averaged 20.5 inches of vertical break on the pitch, staying behind it and back spinning it up in the zone to create natural carry. He turned over a changeup at 73-75 mph that played with 16 inches of horizontal movement on average as well, while also spinning a short wrinkle breaking ball at 66-68 mph.

2/24/24

LHP Ian Tosi (Mount Carmel, 2026) made significant strides this off-season and impressed in our first look of 2024. Standing in a 5-foot-11, 177-pound frame with strength and athleticism, Tosi showed well on the mound with feel for three pitches. His fastball sat 85-87 mph with ride through the zone, creating an average of 20.5 inches of induced vertical break. He showed a change-up that sat 73-74 mph with -16.6 inches of average horizontal movement. Tosi creates 12/6 shape with his curveball that sat 66-67 mph, creating an average of -11.1 inches of average induced vertical break. A name-to-know in the state’s 2026 class.

8/08/23

A name-to-know southpaw with athleticism and upside on the bump at 5-foot-11, 155-pounds: LHP Ian Tosi (Mount Carmel, 2026). A clean, polished mover downhill with a short, quick arm action, Tosi pitched in the low-80s with his fastball, generating both rise (19.1 IVB) and run (15.8 HM) at peak. He landed a short wrinkle mid-to-high-60s curveball for strikes and he naturally faded a 67-71 mph changeup that mirrored his fastball’s plane, too. In three innings of work, Tosi didn’t allow an earned run on 44 pitches, punching out six.

5-foot-10, 150-pound, wiry, left-handed pitcher. Freshman, got the start on the mound and delivered a poised, impressive performance, especially given the playoff environment. Even-keeled, competitive demeanor, repeats delivery and showed a three-pitch mix with his changeup flashing well above-average feel. Fastball topped at 82 mph, sat anywhere from 79-81 throughout, played clean out of the hand and high-volume of strikes (70% on 88 pitches). Changeup was the main secondary offering at 68-70 mph with fade and worked at the bottom of the zone. Breaking ball flashed 1/7 shape, big depth at times, working in the mid-60s. Polished freshman left-hander with present pitchability and plenty more velocity to tap into down the road.
