RHP Owen Walsh (St. Ignatius, 2025) is a name our staff has gotten multiple looks at over the past year and he’s steadily improved within that period. He’s a clean mover on the mound with a fluid arm to pair, all while using minimal effort. His fastball sat 82-84 mph and touched 85 mph, and he also mixed in a breaking ball that sat in the mid-70s with some downward shape.
Positional Profile: RHP/3B
Body: 5-11, 175-pounds. Proportionate.
Delivery: Athletic mover downhill, side-stepper.
Arm Action: RH. Compact, quick 3/4 slot.
FB: T82, 81-82 mph. Plays like a 4-seam, has feel for the strike zone. T2123, 2051 average rpm.
SL: 71-73 mph. 10/4 shape, downer, plays at the bottom of the zone, out-pitch potential. T2314, 2285 average rpm.
SPLT: 77-78 mph. Similar profile to the fastball, arm-side run at times, played better out of the stretch.
ATH: 7.69 runner in the 60. 1.86 and 4.25 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

Hit: RHH. Stock setup, normal stride, steady hands. Short, slightly uphill path, all fields approach.

Defense: Handles with ease, moves well, reliable glove.

RHP/3B Owen Walsh (St. Ignatius, 2025) was another two-way prospect at the event who showed his best stuff on the mount. Works with a side-step delivery that has athleticism to it downhill combined with a quick and compact ¾ arm slot. Walsh worked with a fastball/slider mix, with the fastball sitting in the low 80’s, topping at 82.5 mph. Walsh’s slider played well off of the fastball with 10/4 shape, working down in the zone, at 71-73 mph (average of 2285 rpm) showing out-pitch characteristics.

Body: 6-0, 175-pounds. High waisted, sloped shoulders, with projection.
Delivery: Hybrid delivery with a rocker step, high leg kick into a closed off land.
Arm Action: RH. Short arm action into a 3/4 slot.
FB: T82, 78-81 mph. Some carry, life out of the hand, feel for the top of the zone. T2050, 1977 average rpm.
CB: 60-65 mph. 10/4 shape with feel for the zone, developing feel for the pitch. T2209, 2163 average rpm.
SL: 63-67 mph. Sweeping action, with feel for the zone. T2183, 2152 average rpm.
SPLT: 71-73 mph. Plays with depth, running action, developing feel.
Walsh made the trip up from Illinois and gave a strong showing on the mound. Built at an athletic 6-foot, 175 pounds, Walsh cruised with his fastball in the 78-82 mph range, topping out at 83 mph and setting up an effective curveball/slider combination with feel for both offerings. He also went to a 71-73 mph splitter with killed spin, playing with arm-side action.

Hits: RHH. Stock set up, slight crouch. Simple, somewhat short to the ball, level to slightly uphill path.
