Verbally committed to Northern Illinois.
OF Wyatt Wawro (Downers Grove South) continues to show as one of the better uncommitted bats in the state. The 5-foot-9, 157-pound left-left outfielder was on the barrel throughout gameplay - finishing with three hits, including a triple in the final game. Wawro can cover ground defensively as well, taking clean and easy routes in the outfield. He also ran a 6.89 60 during the workout portion of the event, and that speed translated in-game as he also showed to be a smooth runner on the basepaths.
Positional Profile: OF/LHP
Body: 5-9, 157.4-pounds. Wiry, athletic frame.
Hit: LHH. Standard setup, minimal stride, short/quick stride, linear lower-half. Loose, twitchy swing, slightly uphill, accurate barrel, all fields approach. Feel for the barrel. 64.3 mph bat speed with 12 G’s of rotational acceleration. Finished gameplay 3-for-5 with a triple, two RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base.
Power: 90 max exit velocity, averaged 72.7 mph. 294’ max distance.
Arm: LH. OF - 83 mph. 3/4 slot, carry through throw, fuller arc.
Defense: One-hand gather out front, fluid, funnels ball into throwing motion.
Run: 6.89 runner in the 60.
OF Wyatt Wawro (Downers Grove South, 2025) Possessing a proportionate and athletic 5-foot-9, 160-pound display with room for added strength, Wawro helped Sparks defeat GRB Stiks 10-0. Wawro went 2-for-3 on the day, scoring two runs. The left-handed batter can spread the field as he hit a line drive to left and right. He is tall and loose at the plate with a narrow stance. He has a toe tap stride and drives through the ball with a level swing. Wawro is quick and athletic out of the box. He also went 3-for-3 during the Sparks’ Saturday night 11-1 win. Continued to show his above average bat to ball skills versus heavy left-handed velocity, taking a middle in pitch to the left center gap for a triple.
Uncommitted. Wawro had an impressive week at the plate going 10-for-15 with a triple, two doubles, eight RBIs and five runs scored, helping lead DGS to a 4-0 week. In their 11-1 win over Addison Trail, he went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs. He capped off his week with a 3-for-4 performance, collecting a double, two RBIs and two runs scored in their 5-2 win over Glenbard West.
Uncommitted. Currently listed 5-foot-7, 159-pounds, a lean, athletic frame. The 2023 Junior Future Gamer got the start in right field and batted third in the order. The left-handed hitter stands tall in the box with a wide base, minimal pre-pitch movement before using a toe-lift trigger to start the swing. Loose, athletic hands work through the zone, a direct path to the ball to create a whole field approach. Second at-bat took a 3-2 pitch the other way for his lone hit. Following at-bat, showed strength in the swing with a near home run that resulted in a sacrifice fly. Wawro makes easy work on the base path, stealing second and reading a dirt ball to advance to third. Defensly, Wawro has no wasted movement tracking down the ball, taking direct routes. The top uncommitted juniors in the State, will play a pivotal part in a deep state run for the Mustangs.
OF Wyatt Wawro (Downers Grove South) comes in as the No. 14 ranked player in the state, No. 469 nationally, and there’s a lot to like with the athletic outfielder. Listed at a lean and wiry 5-foot-7, 159-pounds, the left-handed hitter has loose/whippy hands with a flat path through the zone, averaging 89.7 mph for his EV with a max of 93.8 mph while looking to keep the ball on a line to the whole field. Impressive athlete, recording a 6.95 in the 60 with a 20 mph peak run speed. He’s an athletic defender in the outfield, attacking the baseball with steady hands and athletic footwork. He has an above-average arm to pair, reaching up to 87 mph from a crow hop.
OF Wyatt Wawro (Downers Grove South, 2025) was another major winner for Team Illinois at the Future Games. On the workout day, Wawro ran a 6.95 60, reached a peak run speed of 20 mph, and generated noticeable bat speed (76.3 mph) in BP. Wawro is a highly competitive and hitterish top-of-the-order left-handed bat that started his event off on a high note, earning ‘Player of the Game’ honors in game one after swatting a three-run home run and driving in four runs total. He followed that up by ambushing the first pitch of game two down the right field line for a leadoff double and stealing third moments afterwards. Wawro constantly found himself on base, drawing three walks and getting hit by a pitch twice, too. He’s a scrappy, gamer-type that seems to always be on the barrel with sneaky gap-to-gap power.
PBR Future Games: Wawro is listed at 5-foot-11, 155-pounds, and has fluidity and rhythm in his left-handed swing. Wawro ran a 6.95, worked to all fields in BP with loose, athletic hands, stayed on-plane and on balance throughout. Defensively, he is an easy mover and topped at 82 mph. Wawro will be one to follow during game play as all he did this summer when we got our eyes on him was find barrels.

Left/left Wyatt Wawro (Downers Grove South, 2025) is an athletic, fluid outfielder to follow moving forward. Wawro took a number of quality at-bats and swings over the course of the two days. Has a presence in the box, smooth swing, quick hands and creates whip through the zone. Wawro was unfazed by velocity and was on time and on the barrel in a number of at-bats. Should only continue to ascend as he matures and gains strength to his frame.
