7/31/19

Strong armed catcher came into the Future Games nursing an ankle that was severely sprained a few weeks ago.  While the ankle limited him on the bases and kept him out of the timed 60, it did not take away from his performance.  Athletic, with a strong, defined frame, standing 6-foot-1, 190 pounds.  Right handed hitter is balanced and athletic, with a smooth, rhythmic load, pushing his weight back to the back side.  Small stride with the bat launching from a vertical, slightly lagged position.  Direct, quick path, with leverage through the baseball creating back spin.  Worked gap-to-gap, showing power potential.  Exit velocity peaked at 92 off the barrel.  Good bend in the hips and the hands work with ease behind the dish.  Easy target.  Wants to block and corralled most balls within a few feet of his frame.  Shifts side to side with athleticism.  Quick feet and transfer, working across his chest to a short arm action and over-the-top release.  Carried 85 mph out of the hand, from the crouch.  Elite ride and good accuracy on throws.  Pop times ranged 1.93 – 1.94 in the workout.  Cut down 1 runner in game action with an accurate throw at 2.11.

6/17/19

Good athlete in a physical frame, standing 6-foot-1, 190 pounds.  Filled the stat sheet running a 6.83 sixty on the laser timer and showcasing advanced carry from behind the dish with a positional velocity of 84 mph from the crouch.  Exit velocity off the bat peaked at 90 mph.  Behind the dish, has solid bend in the hips and athletic feet.  Short arm stroke and clean exchanges to a high-3/4 slot.  True carry, showing some feel for the bag with pop times ranging 1.97 – 2.08.  At 1st base, the hands and feet work with some rhythm, slightly high in his setup, catching balls deep at times.  Consistent with the catch.  Easy, athletic transfer with a short arm action and accurate throws with a positional velocity peaking at 80 mph.  Right handed hitter has some pop, working from a slightly open base.  Looks to drive balls with a pull-gap emphasis, wanting extension.  Better than average bat speed.   Strength over bat speed at this point.   Shows barrel awareness.  High ceiling with strength and quickness present, but with room to continue to fill out.

10/27/18

Physical presence at 6-foot-1, 190 pounds.  Strength and quickness are present with a laser timed 60 of 6.91 paired with an exit velocity off the bat of 90 mph.  Right handed hitter is athletic and slightly open in his setup.  Flat bat has some waggle through the load, settling in slightly different launch positions at times.  Aggressive stride, back to even.  Strength over bat speed right now, but there is quickness through the zone.  Wants extension.  Swing geared to the pull side.  Average barrel awareness, but when on the barrel, the ball comes off different than that of players his same age.  Defensively behind the plate, lacks some bend in his hips, setting up high.  Hands work with a strong exchange across his chest to a short arm action and quick release.  Easy carry with accuracy.  Pop times ranged 1.90 – 2.04 with a positional velocity of 79 mph from the high crouch.  On the infield, the hips stay high with the hands working deep into the body.  Secured the ball and worked to exchange through the middle of the body.  Short arm swing provided some carry and accuracy at 87 mph across the diamond.
