Urban is another one of the states top arms and on Saturday he showed why. Standing at a lean and athletic 6-foot-1, 185-pounds, Urban is an athletic mover downhill and features clean repeatable mechanics that produced fastballs up to 88.8 mph. This is a pitch that plays with some major ride/carry as he produces true backspin at a 2245 RPM average, and a max of IVB of 15’. As for offspeeds he spun in a hard thrown slider with sharp downer action that averaged over 2400 RPMs. He rounded out his three pitch mix with a splitter in which he was able to kill spin on, roughly 900 RPMs on average, and was able to locate this down action pitch low in the zone.

Urban was one of the biggest winners of the day with the impressive showing on the mound and with the bat. Urban, a projectable and well proportioned 6-foot-1, 180 pounds, moves athletically through his delivery with good direction towards home. He repeats a full arm circle with a 3/4 slot with a quick arm producing velocities with a lively fastball in the upper 80’s and topping out at 88 mph. He deploys a slider with 2400+ RPMs and late movement with 10/4 shape showing potential for a swing and miss weapon below the zone. As a position player, Urban produced one of the top exit velocities of the day at 93.7 mph due to his quick hands and impressive bat speed through the baseball. Finally, in the infield, Urban impressed with his soft hands and impressive arm strength (91 mph) showing quality touch and feel for the baseball with consistently accurate throws through the first baseman. Overall, this was one of the more impressive showings of the day and further solidified Urban as a top talent in the class.

Urban showed some of the quickest hands from the 2025 class in BP, averaging 22.6 mph of hand speed, per Blast Motion. He backspun line drives to all fields and consistently stayed on plane, repeating with ease. On the infield, Urban’s arm strength was evident immediately as he uncorked an 87 mph bullet across the diamond from a loose, whippy ¾ slot. While he didn’t pitch at this showcase, Urban has previously shown as a high-follow pitcher inside this Class of 2025, and we’re eager to see him pitch again in the near future.

Urban is a name we’ve been following for some time now, after showing well at a Future Prospects event this spring and performing in front of our staff throughout the summer. The 5-foot-10, 155-pound Urban toed the rubber at our PBR at The Rock Fall Championships and showed a loose, quick arm that produced a 78-80 mph fastball throughout his outing. Urban also landed his curveball for strikes at an above-average rate, displaying an innate feel to spin for his age. He’s a quality defender on the infield and swings a smooth left-handed bat, too.
6/06/21
Proportional 5-foot-10, 155-pound frame, left-handed hitting infielder that started at third base and hit towards the top of the Halos’ lineup all weekend. Starts tall in the box with some bend in the lower half, quieter pre-pitch rhythm than we’ve seen in the past, hands coil downward at load, short front foot stride. Some line drive feel in the box, peppered a few barreled balls middle-away. Drove a triple to deep right field at WLC against Top Tier South. Arm stood out across the diamond at third base; throws played accurately and true across the diamond with some carry, topped out at 81 mph across the diamond at an event this past April.
