On Feb. 15, the PBR Illinois staff hosted the Lockport Preseason I.D. at the Bo Jackson Elite Sports Dome in Lockport, Ill. The event hosted over 150 prospects from around the state to showcase their skillset in front of our scouting staff, and with a roster that size, there was no doubt we’d be uncovering some new names, as well as tracking the progress of prospects already on our follow lists.

We began to roll out our position-by-position analysis earlier this week, with the day’s outfielders, catchers, and infielders. Today, we’re publishing scouting reports on the day’s pitchers, another huge group that we’ve separated into rankings by class below.

York junior RHP/INF Max Hansmann (2022; uncommitted) broke out at this event to become a name to know within the state’s ‘22 class. Up to 86 mph on the mound, it was Hansmann’s breaking ball that helped separate himself from his peers. His ease of operation and upside three-pitch mix has him trending up early this season.

Sturdy 6-foot-3 junior RHP Matthew Cuzco (St. Ignatius, 2022; uncommitted) was up to a heavy 87 mph while attacking the zone. RHP Ryan Ball (Lincoln-Way East, 2022; uncommitted) is listed at a similar stature as Cuzco, though the fastballs play different, as Ball’s jumps down a steep angle to the zone, with carry through it.

It was at this event where we got our latest look at another St. Ignatius arm, sophomore LHP Tore Indomenico (2023; uncommitted). The sophomore southpaw utilizes a live fastball, measured at an event-high max 89.1 mph. His performance here pushed him into a group of high-follow uncommitted 2023s to know in Illinois.
