On Feb. 15, the PBR Illinois staff hosted the Lockport Preseason I.D. at the Bo Jackson Elite Sports Dome in Lockport, Ill. The event hosted over 150 prospects from around the state to showcase their skillset in front of our scouting staff, and with a roster that size, there was no that doubt we’d be uncovering some new names, as well as tracking the progress of prospects already on our follow lists.

We began to roll out our position-by-position analysis earlier this week, with the day’s outfielders and catchers. Today, we’re publishing scouting reports on the day’s infielders, a huge group that we’ve separated into rankings by class below.

Lincoln-Way East junior INF Randy Seymour (2022) is an intriguing 6-foot-3, 170-pound athlete worth checking in on. He swings a loose right-handed bat and moves around the infield fluidly – he went on to impress from the mound later in the event, too.

From Neuqua Valley, sophomore SS Josh Wenz (2023) continues to garner attention following a productive 2020 in which he stood out both in live looks and within a showcase setting. He’s added some more strength to his 6-foot-2, 182-pound stature, and it allowed him to make louder contact at this event – his max exit speed measured was recorded at 95.5 mph, over 6 mph higher than he best back in July.

Freshman 3B James Love (Joliet West, 2024) emerged at this event as a new follow for us to add to our ‘24 watchlist. In a 6-foot, 170-pound build, Love generates advanced hand speed for his age and it allows him to produce fluid swings for hard line-drive barrels. He’s a smooth defender who projects to slot in well at third base, too.
