Kansas Underclass Games: Outfielder's Analysis

Prep Baseball Report - Kansas held the Kansas Underclass Games at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas on Tuesday, June 5.  Over seventy players attended in the 2020-2021 class. 

Players can now updated their profiles with a ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on the ScoutPlus dashboard. Player profiles have been updated with profile picture, running times, velocities, and videos.  Today will take a closer look at the outfielders from the event. Players are listed in alphabetical order below.

This group of catchers included eight players with 60 times at 7.10-seconds or better.   Nine players had exit velos of 85 mph or better, three hitters had a 90 mph or better exit velocity.  Five players had a 80 mph or better positional velocity.  Here is a break down of the outfielders from the Kansas Underclass Games.

Outfielders

Dominic Bainter OF / 1B / Hays , KS / 2021

Bainter is an athletically built 5-foot-10 155-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 7.19 60 and a 4.47 home to first.  He has a 71 mph exit velocity. At the plate, thin set up, smooth acceleration with loose hands, high finish, in line stride, hands work inside the ball, mostly middle to opposite field contact during hitting evals.  In the outfield. 56 mph positional velocity, works behind the ball with efficient route, high three quarters arm slot, mostly accurate throws.

Nate Burdette OF / C / Maranatha Christian Academy, KS / 2020

Burdette is a strong 5-foot-19 180-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 745 60 and a 4.81 home to first and has an 85 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, in line stride with minimal load, attacks ball, level swing path, gap to gap approach, flashed pull side power.  In the outfield, 82 mph positional velocity, loose high three quarters arm slot, clean exchange, feet create momentum after the catch, throws have occasional accuracy and carry.

Parker Disidore OF / RHP / St. Thomas Aquinas, KS / 2020

Disidore is a 5-foot-8 144-pound right-handed outfielder in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 7.20 60 and a 4.45 home to first.  He has a 79 mph exit velocity. At the plate, square set up in base, no wasted movement in load, level bat path, stays under control throughout swing, gap to gap approach with mostly pull side line drive, occasional power.  In the outfield, 73 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, clean exchange with momentum through the catch, small crow hop, accurate throws, some with carry.

Cameron Draeger OF / RHP / Columbus , KS / 2021

Draeger is a 6-foot 150-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 7.60 60 and a 4.85 home to first.  He has a 71 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts slightly open, slight rotation in front side to load, hands load with stride, short in line stride, mostly pull side line drives during hitting evals, high finish in hands.  In the outfield, 79 mph positional velocity, aggressive to the ball, high three quarters arm slot, plays behind the ball, creates momentum after the catch, clean exchange, mostly accurate throws, projectable build.

Kyron Fergus OF / LHP / Piper, KS / 2021

Fergus is a 6-foot 150-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 7.07 60 and a 4.40 home to first.  He has an 83 mph exit velocity. At the plate, thin stance, leg kick, some hand load, loose hands generate quick bat speed, some lift to bat plane, swing produced constant line drives gap to gap.  In the outfield, 76 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, quick catch and throw, momentum through the catch, clean exchange, mostly accurate throws.

Tate Gillen OF / LHP / Blue Valley, KS / 2021

Gillen is a 6-foot-1 170-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 7.27 60 and a 4.66 home to first.  He has an 87 mph exit velocity. At the plate, hits frame an athletic and attacking posture, aggressive bat speed, level through the zone, repeats well, feel for the barrel, consistent hard line drives gap to gap with pull side power.  In the outfield, quick and athletic actions, quick and throw with clean exchanges, high three quarters arms slot, good route to the ball, momentum through the catch, 80 mph positional velocity.

John Michael Gyllenborg OF / RHP / Rockhurst, MO / 2021

Gyllenborg is a long and lean 6-foot-3 170-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2021 class.  He ran a 7.09 60 and has a 4.56 home to first time.  He has an 85 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance with smooth pre-pitch rhythm, toe tap to inline stride, hits with leverage in lower half, hard gap to gap line drives, quick bat speed level through the zone.  In the outfield, 81 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, loose arm action, clean exchange, works through the ball, still room to fill out physically.

Grant Hall RHP / OF / Olathe Northwest, KS / 2020

Hall is a 5-foot-10 150-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 7.18 60 and a 4.63 home to first.  He has a 76 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, smooth linear weight shift to back side to load, short path to the ball, slight lift to path at finish, gap to gap approach.  In the outfield, 77 mph positional velocity, works behind the ball, creates momentum with footwork after the catch, over the top release, clean exchange, mostly accurate throws.

Cade Kohlmeier RHP / OF / Emporia , KS / 2020

Kohlmeier is a long limbed  6-foot-1 170-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 7.38 60 and 4.62 home to first.  He has an 85 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, linear weight shift to back side, toe touch to load, gap to gap approach with mostly pull side line drives.  In the outfield, 81 mph positional velocity, works behind the ball, catches the ball in position ready to throw, high three quarters arm slot, fluid transfer on time with footwork, sound defender, mostly accurate throws.

Nate Lemke OF / Blue Valley Northwest, KS / 2020

Lemke is a 6-foot-1 180-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2020 class. He ran a 7.16 60 and and 4.59 home to first.  He has an 82 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, smooth pre-swing rhythm, minimal load, level path through the zone, works inside the ball, uses the middle of the field.  In the outfield, 76 mph positional velocity, over the top release, gains momentum with feet after the catch, aggressive to the ball, clean transfer, some throws with carry, mostly accurate.

Ethan Light OF / Pittsburg, KS / 2021

Light is a 5-foot-11 140-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansa’ 2021 class.  He ran a 7.10 60 and a 4.50 home to first.  He has a 75 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in an athletic position, smooth weight shift to back side, minimal hand load, uses the oppo gap with gap to gap approach. In the outfield, 66 mph positional velocity, quick to the ball, high three quarters arm slot, clean transfer with momentum after the catch in footwork.

Brock McCollough OF / OF / Maize, KS / 2021

McCollough is a 5-foot-10 153-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 6.85 60 and a 4.57 home to first.  He has an 86 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, repeatable swing mechanics, hands separate and load with in line stride, swing produced middle to opposite field line drives.  In the outfield, 79 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, quick transfer and throw, aggressive to the ball, clean exchange, mostly accurate throws.

Jackson Miller OF / RHP / De Soto , KS / 2021

Miller is a 5-foot-11 165-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 7.01 60 and a 4.41 home to first.  He has an 83 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in a thin base, slightly closed, top tap, pre-pitch rhythm in hands, consistent contact to the middle of the field.  In the outfield, 76 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, works behind the ball, works through the catch, fluid footwork on time with transfer, stays under control, mostly accurate throws.

John Miller OF / OF / Emporia , KS / 2020

Miller is a strong 6-foot-3 195-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2020 class. He ran a 7.85 60 and a 4.90 home to first.  He has an 87 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance, some hand load, short in line stride, flashed pull side pop, mostly middle to pull side line drives, slight lift to swing path.  In the outfield, 78 mph positional velocity, over the top arm slot, quick and clean transfer, plays through the ball, throws are on line to the bag,

Brennan Perkins OF / RHP / Rockhurst , MO / 2020

Perkins is a 5-foot-11 165-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 7.04 60 and a 4.43 home to first.  He has an 89 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, controlled leg lift with some hand load, stays balanced through out swing, loose hands, creates fast bat whip, gap to gap line drives, some pull side power.  In the outfield, loose over the top arm action, arm works downhill, quick and athletic footwork, momentum through the catch, quick catch and throw, mostly accurate throws with carry, 83 mph positional velocity.

Austin Rosetta OF / Desoto, KS / 2021

Rosetta is a 6-foot-3 172-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 7.58 60 and a 4.53 home to first.  He has a 79 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, controlled leg kick, minimal hand movement, slight lift to bat path, gap to gap approach, flashing pull side power.  In the outfield, 75 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, quick glove to hand transfer, plays through the ball, mostly accurate throws.

Gavin Williams OF / 3B / De Soto, KS / 2021

Williams is a 6-foot 165-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 6.90 60 and a 4.32 home to first.  He has an 87 mph exit velocity. At the plate, has the ability to hit to all field, pre swing rhythm in hands, controlled weight shift and leg lift to load, loose hands with feel for the barrel, level path through the zone, gap to gap approach.  In the outfield, 79 mph positional velocity, works behind the ball, high three quarters arm slot, clean exchange, accurate throws, some with carry.

Tye Wood OF / LHP / Gardner Edgerton, KS / 2021

Wood is a lean 5-foot-10 165-pound switch-hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 6.64 60 and 4.31 home to first from the left side.  He has an 88 mph exit velocity. At the plate, simple and repeatable from both side, no wasted movement, stays inside the ball from both sides, middle oppo site field, more pull from right side, level swing path with feel for the barrel. In the outfield, three quarters arm slot, sighing type arm action, stays under control, works though the ball with momentum and clean transfer, mostly accurate throws, 71 mph positional velocity
