6/13/17 - Drafted in the 4th round by the Milwaukee Brewers.

4.12.17 - Arizona State commit. Currently ranked No. 85 in the PBR Draft 100. Big crowd of scouts in attendance to see him with multiple crosscheckers. Pitched his normal high school outing going six innings striking out 9, allowing two hits, and two walks. 6-foot-4, 205-pound left-handed pitcher with a lanky frame, and room to fill out especially in the lower half. Fastball sat 89-91 mph through five innings. Hit multiple 92s in the first two frames. Only tailed off in the sixth when he was 87-89 mph. Slider has short breaking action at 78-79 mph. Changeup showed both downer and cutting action at times, sat 81-82 mph. Good balance and tempo throughout delivery, easy effort. Projects as a starter and will add some velocity as he continues to fill out.

5.28.16 - Arizona State commit. 6-foot-3, 180-pound left-handed pitcher with a lanky, athletic frame. Got the start for Mundelein and was perfect through the first 5.2 innings. Murphy flashed a premium three-pitch mix, with command, and ability to hold velocity. In the first inning he sat 88-90 mph topping out at 92 mph multiple times. Sat 87-89 through the outing, still hitting 91 mph in the sixth. Slider showed hard sweeping action at 77-80 mph. Changeup has fading action at 80-81 mph. Showed he is one of the top draft prospects for 2017 in the Midwest.

5.11.16 - Arizona State commit. Currently ranked No. 11 in the Illinois Class of 2017. 6-foot-3, 180-pound left-handed pitcher with a tall, lanky, athletic frame with more room to fill out. Works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long, clean arm action. Tall and fall delivery with a square landing and good balance throughout delivery. Gets more length on his font side now creating more torque in the core. Worked almost exclusively with his fastball and slider. Showed the ability to hold velocity sitting at 88 mph for the first four innings of the outing topping out at 90 mph in the third inning. Worked 84-86 mph in the sixth and seventh. Slider showed 2-8 shape with late hard action, likes to back foot right handed hitters with it. Slider sat 75-78 mph. Flashed one changeup with late fading action at 77 mph. Worked seven innings allowing just two hits, three walks, while striking out 14. Draft follow for the upcoming summer.

9.27.15 - Verbally commits to Arizona State
9.5.15 - prototypical pitchers frame 6-foot-3, 180 left-handed pitcher. Highly projectable arm, loose and clean arm action. High ¾ slot, athletic and repeatable delivery. Fastball worked 84-87 mph, some arm-side life. Feel for a change-up, 75 mph, and slight fade.
Future Games 2015 - Prototypical, athletic body 6-foot-3, 180-pound is one of the top uncommitted left-handed pitchers in the 2017 class in Illinois. The left-hander with pitch ability also showed that he has swing and miss stuff evidenced by his outings at the Future Games. In his two innings of work Murphy struck out five batters. Also, flashed one of the best change-ups for Team Illinois at the Future games. Fastball arm speed, plus action, a swing and miss offering, at 75 mph. Smooth, easy, clean arm action. Operates from a high ¾ slot, slow-paced delivery, athletic finish. Also, mixed in a 1/7 curveball, with feel at 75 mph. Fastball had arm-side-run, sitting 81-84 mph and touching 85. Projectable lefty should be a high follow moving forward.
6.21.15 - Long lanky pitchers frame, 6-foot-3, 180-pounds, good athlete. Easy delivery, works from a high ¾ slot, lacked conviction. Fastball has arm side run, sat 82-83 mph, touched 85 mph, mostly up in the zone. Sparingly used off speed pitches. Flashed a curveball on 1/7 plane at 73 mph.

4.1.15 - 6-foot-2, 180-pound, left-handed pitcher with a long, lanky projectable frame. High waisted. Works from a high ¾ arm angle with a loose, clean arm action. Shorter in the back with good extension out front. Tall and fall online delivery with good tempo and balance throughout. Square landing with an athletic finish. Fastball showed armside run with life down in the zone. At times flashed advanced command of fastball to both sides of the plate. Fastball sat 84-87 topping out at 88 mph with more to come. Curveball showed swing and miss potential at 70-72 mph, showing 1-7 shape and good depth. Changeup showed heavy run at 77-78 mph. High level prospect who will continue to develop.
1.18.15 - 6-foot-2, 180-pound lanky, athletic, and projectable LHP works from a long, loose, easy high ¾ arm slot, tall/fall delivery, smooth rhythm throughout, loads lower half over rubber, toe up at balance point, stride direction is in line with home plate, lands square. Fastball sat 81-83 mph for strikes with occasional plus sinking action. 71-74 mph curveball flashed 1/7 shape, thrown from strikes, gets slurvy at times. Aggressive arm action on 74-76 mph changeup with arm side run. Murphy is one of the top southpaws in Illinois’ 2017 class and projects to throw harder due to his plus frame and smooth, easy arm action.
