VA/DC PreSeason All-State Central

Gauch is 6-2 with a lanky athletic 160 pound frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from an open balanced athletic stance, leg kick stride on line, smooth load back to a wrap. Hips rotate completely and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short to the ball, uphill swing path with strength at contact and good extension through the ball, swing generates natural loft and carry, has some gap power present to all fields now with the potential to add a lot more in his future, exit velocity was 86. In the infield, rounds ball and fields with average hands, works through the ball to a clean exchange, throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot, short loose quick arm action, position velocity was 81. On the mound, he throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot, long free quick arm action and normal effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are slightly uphill and closed, lands closed with a slight fall off finish. Fastball was 79-80, touching 81, with heavy armside run to it that also has some depth as well. Curveball was 66-69 with good armspeed and hard 11/5 break to it. Change-up was 70-71 with good armspeed and some late fade.

Freshmen Free Central

Gauch is 6-2 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of  projection left to it. He hits from the right side from an open balanced athletic stance, big leg kick stride on line, loads back to a wrap. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing path with some extension through the ball, showed pull approach with the ability to use the whole field, gets some loft and power to pull side, exit velocity was 85. In the infield, rounds the ball and fields with wider base and above average hands, works through the ball to a quick clean exchange, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, short loose arm action, position velocity was 79. Ran a 4.51 home to first. On the mound, he throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot, long loose quick arm action with some effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery with some crossfire to it, shoulders are level and closed, lands slightly open with a fall off finish. Fastball was 79-82, with late hard armside run. Curveball was 66-68 with good armspeed and late sharp 11/5 break to it. Change-up was 71-72 with good armspeed and some fade to it.

In the infield, rounds the ball and fields with a wider base and average hands, works through the ball to a clean exchange, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, short arm action, position velocity was 77. On the mound, he throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, short free arm action and normal effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are level and closed, lands slightly closed with an athletic finish. Fastball was 76-78, touching 81, with some armside run and some late heavy sink. Curveball was 64-69 with some armspeed and sharp 10/4 break to it, has some shape, chance to be a good pitch as it tightens. Showed a change-up in warmups that had some armspeed and heavy fade.

PBR Mid-Atlantic Summer Championships

Long lanky athletic frame. Shorter quick arm action on the mound with arm speed and room for more. Pitched with regular effort and shows more in the tank as he develops. Interesting arm in the 2024 class.
