2018 Overall Rankings Updated
March 21, 2018
With southern states a month into their spring seasons, the addition of two states to Prep Baseball Report’s coverage area and the natural fluidity of rankings, it’s time for an update to the 2018 Overall Rankings. Since Arizona was added to the mix last fall, LHP
Matt Liberatore (Mountain Ridge HS, AZ) has held onto the top spot. OF Jarred Kelenic (Waueksha West HS, WI) slid into No. 2 after his impressive performance at the Super 60 and RHP Mason Denaburg (Merritt Island HS, FL) is at No. 3 with his incredible start to the spring.
The addition of PBR California and PBR Georgia brings a host of top prospects into the mix and new members of the top five. RHP Kumar Rocker (North Oconee HS, GA) has been electric so far this season and checks in at No. 4 with his plus fastball and plus curveball. At No. 5 is SS Brice Turang (Santiago HS, CA), who has been on the prospect radar for years with his natural instincts, elite defense and feel for hitting.
Rounding out the top 10 are RHP Ethan Hankins (Forsyth Central HS, GA), OF Alek Thomas (Mount Carmel HS, IL), 3B Nolan Gorman (O’Connor HS, AZ), RHP Cole Winn (Orange Lutheran HS, CA) and OF Mike Siani (Penn Charter School, PA).
It’s important to note that the Overall Rankings differ from the High School Draft 100 in that it excludes players from states that PBR doesn’t have its comprehensive coverage yet. On this list, you won’t find top prospects from the likes of Alabama, Nevada, South Carolina, the Pacific Northwest or others—though we expect that to change with time as we continue to expand.
