St. Louis Gamers Scout Day: Middle Infielders Analysis

Prep Baseball Report - Missouri held the St. Louis Gamers Scout Day on February 19 at All-Star Sports in St. Louis, Missouri.  Over 60 players attended the event in the 2022 to 2019 classes. 

Players can now updated their profiles with a ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on the ScoutPlus dashboard.

Player profiles have been updated with profile picture, running times, velocities, and videos.  Today will take a closer look at the Middle infielders from the event. Players are listed in alphabetical order below.

This group of middle infielders included on player from the 2023 class, two from the class of 2022, four from the 2021 class, five from the 2020 class, and three from the 2019 class. Five players posted 90-plus exit velos with one 89 mph exit velo.  Five players were 80 mph or better with their infield velos.  Here is a look at the middle infielders from the St. Louis Gamers Scout Day.


Middle Infielders

Drew Baughman SS / 2B / CBC, MO / 2021

Baughman is a 5-foot-9 140-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2021 class.  He ran a 4.13 home to first and has an 84 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in a slightly open stance, controlled leg kid, smooth acceleration with hand, quick bat speed with level path, swing produced mostly middle to pull side contact during hitting evals, has feel for the barrel with hard consistent contact.  On the infield, 73 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, gains ground to 1B after the catch, fluid footwork with clean exchange, still developing with already athletic actions. 

Ryan Bibb RHP / SS / Mascoutah , IL / 2022

Bibb is a 6-foot 160-pound right-handed shortstop in Illinois' 2022 class.  He ran a 4.20 home to first and has an 87 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, leg kick to in line stride, quiet hands, level swing path with loose hands generating quick bat speed, middle of the field approach.  On the infield, 85 mph positional velocity, three quarters arm slot, quick transfer with fast feet, creates momentum to throw playing through the ball, strong young athlete with high ceiling. 

Nathan Fee-Wiley SS / RHP / Christian Brothers College, MO / 2022

Fee-Wiley is an athletically built 5-foo-9 145-pound left-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2022 class.  He ran a 4.44 home to first and has an 82 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts loaded in back leg, no wasted movement in hands, slight dip into legs for timing, in line stride, quick hands with level path to extension, stays in lower half, mostly middle to pull side line drives during batting evals. On the infield, 70 mph positional velocity, three quarters arm slot, fluid actions, fielding ball the out front in athletic position, clean exchanges with momentum from feet.

Cade Hohl SS / 2B / SLUH, MO / 2020

Hohl is a strong and athletic 5-foot-11 160-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 4.29 home to first and has a 93 mph exit velocity. At the plate, tall and open stance, controlled leg lift, in line stride, aggressive and quick bat speed, loose hands with bat whip, stays on ball after contact, loud contact to middle and pull side of the field, feel for the barrel.  On the infield, 80 mph infield velo, smooth and under control with athletic actions, over the top arm slot, quick feet with fluid transfers, arm works, ball comes out of hand well.

Sam Kohler 2B / SS / MICDS, MO / 2019

Kohler is a 5-foot-7 1150-pound right-handed hitting second baseman n Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 4.56 home to first and has an 83 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance, some hand load, toe tap to stride, body stays balanced and under control, swing produced mostly pull side contact during hitting evals.  On the infield, 75 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, quick and athletic footwork, soft hand, exchange in sync with footwork, clean arm action.

Brian Cole Krieger RHP / SS / Lafayette, MO / 2020

Krieger is a 6-foot 160-pound left-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 4.60 home to first and has a 90 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, lands slightly closed, no wasted movement in load, quiet hands, calm leg lift, quick bat speed with level path, hard middle to pull side contact with occasional power.  On the infield, 83 mph positional velocity, short over the top arm slot, smooth and under control, quick transfer and release, plenty of more room to add strength on athletic build and smooth actions. 

Sam Ladd SS / 3B / Parkway Central, MO / 2020

Ladd is a 6-foot 185-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri's 2020 class.  He ran a 4.32 home to first and has an 88 mph exit velocity.  At the plate,  starts slightly open, smooth and controlled load, in line stride, aggressive and quick hands, swing produced mostly middle to pull side line drives, flashes power to the pull side, stays on ball after contact.  On the infield, 77 mph positional velocity, quick catch and throw with momentum through the catch, athletic actions with quick transfer and quick feet, high three quarters arm slot.  

 

Cameron Macon 2B / OF / Kirkwood , MO / 2020

Macon is an athletic and strong 5-foot-11 175-pound right-handed hitting second baseman in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 4.06 home to first and has an 81 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance, pre-pitch rhythm in hands, lands slightly closed with stride, loose hands, level path through extension, quick bat speed, body stays under control.  On the infield, 75 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, quick feet and aggressive to the ball, has momentum after the catch, fluid actions.

Tyler Macon 2B / OF / Kirkwood , MO / 2023

Macon is a 5-foot-3 110-pound switch hitting second baseman in Missouri’s 2023 class.  He ran a 4.62 home to first and has a 70 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance, calm leg kick, some rotation to load, hand control the bat head, middle to pull side contact.  On the infield, 61 mph positional velocity, athletic and quick actions for a young age, high three quarters arm slot with loose arm action, soft hands, fields ball in athletic position, young player still developing physically will add strength to already fluid and athletic actions, player to watch in the 2023 class.

Joshua Marion SS / 2B / Columbia , IL / 2019

Marion is a 5-foot-8 150-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 4.05 home to first and has a 92 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open and athletic stance, minimal load, no wasted movement, short in line stride, body stays under under control with hands creating a level plane, has a middle of the field approach, flashing some pull side power.  On the infield, high three quarters arm slot, 77 mph positional velocity, works around the ball and through the catch, fluid foot giving momentum to throw after the catch, clean and quick exchanges on time with footwork,

Jack Martin SS / RHP / Westminster, MO / 2020

Martin is a 5-foot-10 145-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 4.40 home to first and has a 92 mph exit velocity. At the plate, tall and balanced, pre-pitch rhythm in hands, in line stride, mostly middle to pull side line drives during batting practice.  On the infield, 76 mph positional velocity, quick over the top arm slot, short arm circle, soft hands with clean exchange, quick feet to the ball working through the catch. 

Jack Meyer SS / RHP / Rockwood Summit, MO / 2021

Meyer is a lean 5-foot-11 155-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2021 class.  He ran a 4.80 home to first and has an 87 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open and crouched set up, gathers weight in back leg with leg kick during load, some hand load with a good bat angle, accelerated hands to contact, gap to gap approach.  On the infield, 74 mph positional velocity, clean high three quarters arm slot, active feet on time with exchange, feel allow for good direction and momentum.

Nicholas Moten SS / RHP / Westminster , MO / 2021

Moten is a 5-foot-8 155-pound right-handed hitting second baseman in Missouri’s 2021 class.  He ran a 4.47 home to first and has an 86 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, starts slightly open with smooth rhythm in hands, short in line stride, quick and aggressive hand speed allows for accelerated bat whip, swing produced mostly pull side contact with power. On the infield, 83 mph positional velocity, soft hands fielding ball in athletic position, quick transfer, feet create momentum to work after the catch, short arm circle with loose arm action, throws have carry, body will add strength to athletic frame.

Trevor Quick SS / 2B / Seckman, MO / 2021

Quick is a long and lean 6-foot 140-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2021 class.  He ran a 4.56 home to first and has a 78 mph exit velocity. At the plate, tall set up, slightly open, calm and controlled leg lift, accelerated hands with fast bat speed, short stride, uses lower half well.  On the infield, 71 mph positional velocity, quick catch and throw, high three quarters arm slot, soft hand with athletic actions, exchange and throw on time with footwork, footwork creates momentum in line to 1B to throw, projectable player in 2021 class.

Drew Mize SS / 2B / Fort Zumwalt West, MO / 2019

Mize is an athletic and lean 5-foot-11 161-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 4.25 home to first and has a 92 mph exit velocity. At the plate, thin and balanced stance, calm load with no wasted movement, accelerates to contact with controlled in line stride and fast hands, aggressive swing, showed power to the pull side with middle of the field approach.  On the infield, 83 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, footwork is quick to the ball and gains ground to 1B after the catch, soft hands with fluid exchange connected to footwork, loose arm and quick arm action allows for carry on throws.
