Prep Baseball Report - Kansas held the MOKAN Summer Trails on June 19 at LaRoche Field in Fort Scott, Kansas.. Over 50 players in the 2023 t0 2019 classes from around Missouri and Kansas participated.

Players can now updated their profiles with a ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on the ScoutPlus dashboard. Player profiles have been updated with profile picture, running times, velocities, and videos.  Today will take a closer look at the infilders from the event. Players are listed in alphabetical order below.

Infielders

Carson Atwood RHP / 3B / Olathe West, KS / 2022

Atwood is a 6-foot-5, 195-pound right-handed pitcher and infielder in Kansas’ 2022 class. He ran a 5.28 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 78 mph. During batting practice, Atwood shows a balanced set up, simple load, contact to the middle and pull side of the field, finishes high with his hands. Defensively, Atwood was aggressive to the baseball, high ¾ arm slot, clean transfers, positional velo of 60 mph, mostly accurate throws.

Fletcher Aude SS / 3B / Paola , KS / 2021

Aude is a 5-foot-9, 175-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder from Paola, KS. Aude ran a 4.63 home-to-first and posted an exit velo of 73 mph. During batting practice, Aude starts with a slightly open stance, has a slight leg kick and remains balanced throughout his swing. Defensively, Aude attacks the baseball, shows momentum towards first base, positional velo of 61 mph and accurate throws.

Trenton Austin SS / RHP / Pittsburg, KS / 2019

Austin has a large and projectable frame at 6-foot-4, 205 pounds and is a right handed pitcher and infielder from Pittsburg HS. He ran 7.14 60, 4.75 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 88 mph, one of the top velocities at the event. During batting practice, Austin has a relaxed set up, abbreviated leg kick, flat bat path, balanced throughout his swing. Defensively, he has fluid footwork, good range, clean transfers, positional velo of 70 mph, accurate throws.

Peyton Beck LHP / 1B / Chanute , KS / 2020

Beck is a 5-foot-10, 145-pound left-handed pitcher and first basement in Kansas 2020 class from Chanute HS. He ran a 4.40 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 80 mph. During hitting evaluations, Beck has a simple and minimal load, quick hands, flat bat path, showed contact to the middle of the field. Defensively, Beck showed range, quick feet, clean transfers, quick arm action, positional velo of 65 mph, accurate throws.

Hayden Bontrager RHP / 3B / Maize South, KS / 2019

Bontrager has a long and lean build, projectable frame at 6-foot-4, 165 pounds. He ran a 7.21 60, 4.81 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 80 mph. During batting practice, Bontrager has a simple load, quick hands, leverages his front side, finishes with his hands high. Defensively, Bontrager has good actions, quick arm, ¾ arm slot, strong arm with a positional velo of 80 mph, very accurate throws.

Riley Bush C / SS / Baxter Springs , KS / 2021

Bush is a projectible 6-foot-2, 180-pound right-handed hitting catcher and middle infielder from Baxter Springs, KS. He ran a 5.00 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 83 mph. At the plate, Bush showed a quiet load, quick hands and level bat path while making solid contact. Behind the plate defensively, Bush has an athletic set up, quick transfer, gains momentum towards 2B with pop times between 2.03 and 2.15 seconds (quickest at the event), positional velo of 75 mph and mostly accurate throws. While on the infield, he showed a clean arm path, good actions, positional velo of 71 mph and mostly accurate throws.

Jack Dotterer 2B / OF / St. Thomas Aquinas, KS / 2021

Dotterer is a 5-foot-8, 137-pound right-handed pitcher and middle infielder in Kansas’ 2021 class from St. Thomas Aquinas HS. He ran a 5.22 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 70 mph. During batting practice, Dotterer has a balanced set up, toe tap load, quiet hands, showed contact to the middle of the field. Defensively, Dotterer showed range, clean transfers, high ¾ arm slot, positional velo of 68 mph, mostly accurate throws.

Dylan Epke 3B / RHP / Maize South, KS / 2020

Epke is a 5-foot-11, 165-pound left-handed hitting infielder and right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class from Maize South HS. He ran a 4.33 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 81 mph. During batting practice, Epke has a balanced set up, quiet load, minimal head movement, high finish with hands, showed contact to the middle of the field. Defensively, Epke worked through the baseball, clean transfers, high ¾ arm slot, positional velo of 57 mph, accurate throws.

Joseph Gruber SS / 3B / Sabetha , KS / 2019

Gruber is a strong bodied 5-foot-11, 195-pound right-handed hitting infielder in Kansas’ 2019 class out of Sabetha, KS. He ran a 4.63 home-to-first and showed an exit velo of 84 mph. During batting practice, Gruber shows an even stance, slight leg kick into his load and stays inside the baseball while showing some pop to the middle of the field. Defensively, Gruber shows a quick release, accurate throws and positional velo of 62 mph.

Braden Hoffman 3B / OF / Lawrence , KS / 2022

Hoffman has a 5-foot-9, 150-pound athletic frame and is a right-handed hitting infielder in Kansas’ 2022 class. He ran a 4.75 home-to-first and posted an 83 mph exit velocity. During hitting evaluations, Hoffman starts with a slightly open stance, knee-to-knee load and a high finish with his hands. Defensively, Hoffman shows a high ¾ slot, clean transfers, momentum towards the target, very accurate throws and a positional velo of 63 mph.

Matthew Lemke 3B / 1B / Blue Valley Northwest, KS / 2022

Lemke is a 5-foot-10, 151-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Kansas’ 2022 class. He ran a 4.78 home-to-first and posted an exit velo of 75 mph. During batting practice, Lemke showed contact to the middle of the field, with a balanced stance, minimal load, flat bat path and extension through the baseball. While on the infield, Lemke showed some athleticism, clean arm action, momentum towards first base, mostly accurate throws and a positional velo of 53 mph.

Jack McClure 2B / SS / Lafayette, MO / 2015

McClure is a 5-foot-7, 140-pound left-handed hitting middle infielder and righ-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2022 class. He ran a 4.53 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 82 mph. During batting practice, McClure uses a leg kick to get to his load, quiet hands, stays inside the ball and has an opposite field approach. Defensively, he has a ¾ arm slot, clean transfers, momentum towards first base, positional velo of 59 mph and very accurate throws.

Corey McCready OF / SS / Blue Valley Northwest, KS / 2021

McCready is 5-foot-9, 155-pound right-handed pitcher, infielder and outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 4.90 home-to-first and posted a 75 mph exit velocity. During batting practice, McCready has a balanced set up, abbreviated leg kick, quiet load, flat barrel path. In the outfield, he shows fluid footwork to the baseball, clean transfers, positional velo of 70 mph and mostly accurate throws. Defensively on the infield, McCready moves well, momentum towards first base, clean arm action, positional velo of 67 mph and very accurate throws.

Jackson Mervosh SS / 2B / Olathe Northwest, KS / 2022

Mervosh is a 5-foot-8, 135-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder in Kansas’ 2022 class. He ran a 5.09 home-to-first and 7.70 60 yard dash. During batting practice, Mervosh shows rhythm into his load, strides slightly closed off, remains balanced throughout and finishes high with his hands. Defensively, Mervosh moves well with good footwork, momentum towards first base, ¾ arm slot, clean arm action, positional velo of 68 mph and very accurate throws.

Luke Millman LHP / 1B / DeSoto, KS / 2020

Luke Millman has a strong build at 6-foot-1, 180 pounds. He is a left-handed hitting first basemen and left-handed pitcher from DeSoto HS. He ran 7.51 60, 4.44 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 88 mph, one of the highest at the event. During batting practice, Millman shows a balanced set up, quick hands, aggressive swing, hard contact, high finish with hands. Defensively, Millman has quick feet, good range, positional velo of 73 mph and accurate throws.

Nathan Nichols RHP / 1B / Rockhurst, MO / 2022

Nichols has a long build and projectible frame at 5-foot-11, 150 pounds. He is a left-handed hitting first baseman and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2022 class. He ran a 4.75 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 80 mph. During hitting evaluations, Nichols shows an upright and balanced stance, simple load, quiet hands, minimal head movement and contact to the middle of the field. Defensively, Nichols has over the top arm action, clean transfers, positional velo of 67 mph and mostly accurate throws.

Brandon Petty SS / 2B / Pittsburg , KS / 2020

Petty is a strong bodied 5-foot-9, 180-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder in Kansas’ 2020 class. He ran a 7.30 60 and a 4.53 home-to-first while posting a 83 mph exit velo. During batting practice, Petty shows a simple load, even stance and balance through his swing. Defensively on the infield, Petty attacked the baseball with clean exchanges, showed a high ¾ release, positional velo of 66 mph and mostly accurate throws.

Blake Reeder 3B / SS / Shawnee Mission Northwest, KS / 2022

Reeder is an athletic, big bodied 6-foot, 175-pound middle infielder and right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2022 class. He ran a 5.00 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 84 mph. During batting practice, Reeder showed an aggressive swing, quick hands, flat bat path and contact to all fields. Defensively, Reeder showed athleticism, good actions, low ¾ arm slot, positional velo of 67 mph and very accurate throws.

Wade Reynolds 3B / RHP / Goddard Eisenhower, KS / 2019

Wade Reynolds is an athletic and physcial 6-foot-2, 180-pound right-handed pitcher and middle infielder. He ran a 7.13 60, 4.53 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 90 mph, which was the highest at the event. During batting practice, Reynolds showed a physical swing, quick hands, flat barrel bath, quick bat speed and hard contact. Defensively, Reynolds has good actions, quick arm, good range, positional velo of 81, accurate throws.

Charlie Roder LHP / 1B / Rockhurst, MO / 2020

Roder is a 5-foot-11, 170-pound left-handed pitcher and first basemen in Missouri’s 2020 class from Rockhurst HS. He ran a 4.69 home-to-first and showed an exit velocity of 79 mph. During batting practice, Roder showed an open stance, knee pinch into his load and a high finish with hands. Defensively, Roder moves well, clean arm action and transfers, positional velo of 78, very accurate throws.

Jacob Selock SS / 3B / Liberty , MO / 2019

Selock is 5-foot-9, 165-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder in Missouri’s 2019 class. Selock ran 4.63 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 82 mph. During batting practice, Selock starts with an open stance, simple load and remains balanced throughout his swing. During his defensive evaluation, Selock shows good actions, low ¾ arm slot, momentum towards first base, very accurate throws and a positional velo of 68 mph.

Samuel Short SS / RHP / Barstow, MO / 2019

Short has a projectible frame at 6-foot-2, 170 pounds and is a member of Missouri’s 2019 class from Barstow HS. He ran a 4.78 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 78 mph. During batting practice, Short uses a leg lift to get into his load, compact swing, works inside the baseball, gap-to-gap approach, high finish with hands. On the infield, Short has good footwork, clean transfers, high ¾ arm slot, positional velo of 64 mph and accurate throws.

Daxen Steinbacher 3B / RHP / Olathe South, KS / 2022

Steinbacher is a 6-foot, 160-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder and right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2022 class. He posted a 79 mph exit velocity and ran a 4.81 home-to-first. During batting practice, Steinback starts with an upright and open stance, good rhythm into his load with an abbreviated leg lift, sets up middle of the box and extension through the baseball. Defensively, he works through the baseball, low ¾ arm slot, positional velo of 70 mph with accurate throws.

Austin Warkins 1B / 3B / Campus, KS / 2020

Warkins is a 6-foot, 190-pound left-handed hitting first basemen in Kansas’ 2020 class. He ran a 4.69 home-to-first and a posted an exit velocity of 78 mph. During hitting evaluations, Warkins creates some leverage with his bigger body, starts with an open stance, is aggressive through the baseball, and shows some pop to his pull side. Defensively at first base, Warkins showed clean transfers, long arm action, a positional velo of 70 mph with accurate throws.

Brett Wiemers 2B / SS / Pittsburg, KS / 2019

Wiemers has an athletic and projectible frame at 6-foot-2, 175-pounds. He ran a 7.20 60 and 4.66 home-to-first and posted an 84 mph exit velocity. During batting practice, Wiemers uses a toe tap into his load, mostly level bat path and showed contact to the middle and pull side of the field. Defensively, Wiemers has good actions with clean arm action, gains momentum towards first base, moves well with good range, positional velo of 72 mph and accurate throws.
