Pennsylvania Class of 2020 Rankings Update

Greg Williams
Pennsylvania Director of Scouting

It’s been a busy four-plus months since the last update to the Class of 2020 rankings. As we have worked our way through the fall and winter, both on the state and national levels, more light has been shed on the junior class around the state of Pennsylvania.

This update includes the addition of 45 new prospects to the list. The final total will likely reach 250 or more by the time this class graduates. Certainly, this list will change and evolve in time, as we know many players will continue to grow, develop and mature.

Many on this list will be a part of the Preseason All-State Showcase in February which annually acts as an identifier for a number of highly scouted invite only events over the summer.

+ Mississipi State commit, OF Austin Hendrick (West Allegheny), continues to hold down the No. 1 spot in Pennsylvania as well as the top spot in the PBR overall rankings nationwide for the Class of 2020. Hendrick hit for average and for power at a number of national events over the summer and will be a hot topic in MLB Draft conversations next summer.

+ At 6-foot-5, 220-pounds, switch-hitting third baseman Luke Storm (Easton Area) continues to climb the list moving to No. 3 in this update. Storm, a Duke commit, continues to show big power potential from both sides of the plate and a college ready frame as a junior in high school.

+ Halifax Area two-way prospect Nathan Blasick, a West Virginia commit, jumps 15 spots in this update and now sits at No. 6. While currently listed as a 3B/RHP, it was on the mound that Blasick most impressed at the PBR Mid-Atlantic ProCase earlier this month. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound righty was up to 91 mph with consistent arm-side fade to his fastball out of a 3/4 arm slot.

+ State College outfielder Jack Hurley, a Virginia Tech commit, makes the biggest jump in this update moving 25 spots to No. 9. The 6-foot, 175-pound left-handed hitter impressed at a pair of Pro events consistently driving baseballs with wood while running a 6.70 60-yard dash and showcased 94 mph arm strength.
