Updated 2018 Overall Rankings Released

The Class of 2018 is loaded with high-end talent, and it only got deeper over the course of three-plus months since the last rankings update. Much has changed over the busy winter months. Many new names have emerged as top-level prospects, and scores of players have taken significant leaps forward, all of which is reflected in the updated  overall 2018 rankings.

It is important to note that the PBR overall rankings only include the states that we intimately know from our scouting staff. The updated Top 400 Class of 2018 rankings is comprised of our current 34-state coverage area, which now includes recently added Texas and Oklahoma. As expected, Texas prospects made a big splash in the overall rankings.

While there have been significant changes in the updated overall Top 400 Class of 2018 rankings, much of the top 10 remains intact. With one big exception: 1B Triston Casas (American Heritage HS, FL). The 6-foot-4, 238-pound Miami recruit, who has long been one of the top 2019 prospects, reclassified. The left-handed hitting Casas features double-plus left-handed power without much swing-and-miss. As the youngest player on the 18U USA National Team, Casas hit cleanup and batted .333 with two homers and a team-leading 11 RBI.

While Casas makes an immediate impact at No. 5, the top three prospects hold firm in order, led by left-handed hitting OFs Jarred Kelenic (Waukesha West HS, WI) and Michael Siani (William Penn Charter HS, PA). The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Kelenic only solidified his status as the top prospect after his stellar performance at the Super 60. Both Kelenic and Siani feature high-end tools across the board. C/RHP Mason Denaburg (Merritt Island HS, FL), a 6-foot-3 Florida recruit, remains at No. 3. Denaburg has proven to be a top-level right-handed arm and an offensive force behind the plate.

After Kelenic and Siani, the top 10 features several familiar high-ceiling power arms: RHP Slade Cecconi (Trinity Prep HS, FL), RHP Owen White (Jesse C. Carson HS), RHP Cole Winn (Silver Creek HS, CO), RHP Austin Becker (Big Walnut HS, OH) and RHP/1B Grayson Rodriguez (Nacogdoches Central HS, TX).

Switch-hitting SS Nander De Sedas (Montverde Academy HS, FL), Florida State recruit, continues to steadily climb the overall rankings and has now jumped to No. 8.

There were many big risers outside the top 10. Some of the most significant risers include: LHP Ryan Weathers (Loretto HS, TN), RHP/SS Mateo Gil (Timber Creek HS, TX), C Cayden Aldridge (Talequah HS, OK), RHP Max Alba (Franklin HS, WI), 3B Roberto Pena (Flanagan HS, FL), RHP/3B Jaden Hill (Ashdown HS, AR), LHP Caden Monke (Mount Olive HS, IL), RHP/INF Nicholas Northcut (Mason HS, OH), OF Basiel Williams (Ponchatula HS, LA), RHP Brendan Koester (Eastern HS, KY) and RHP Gus Radel (Sioux Falls Roosevelt HS, SD), to name a few.
