5/22/24
Indiana signee. Currently ranked No. 15 in the state’s senior class. Stands in an athletic and projectable frame at 6-foot-4, 200-pounds with seemingly more to come. Started on the mound for the Indians in a Regional Semi-Final game. Brummel has simple delivery with minimal effort, paired with a long, loose and clean arm path with clear acceleration out front. His off-speed pitches continue to progress, throwing them for strikes and showing quality movement on all three pitches. His fastball sat 89-92 mph, topping out at 94 mph with life through the zone. He threw both a slider and a curveball in the upper-70s, touching the low-80s, with sharp, late breaking movement and spin rates in the 2300-2500 range. His change-up also impressed, throwing it to left-handed hitters, producing heavy, lade fade into the zone at 81-83 mph. A high-level arm in the state’s senior class.
4/22/24

Indiana commit. Currently ranked No. 15 in Illinois’ 2024 class and No. 414 nationally. Listed at 6-foot-4, 200-pounds with strength and athleticism throughout. Started on the mound for the Indians and threw 6.2 innings with 16 strikeouts, three walks, one unearned run and three hits allowed. Showed a high motor with competitiveness on the mound and worked with a quality pace throughout the game. Simple delivery into balance point, medium leg lift with tuck and coil, tall and fall delivery down the mound, works in-line, toe consistently lands in-line with the plate. Clean and loose arm path with clear acceleration out front, ¾ slot. Fastball sat 90-92 mph early on, touching 93 mph multiple times, but settled in at 89-92 mph throughout the game with clear life through the zone. Mixed in two separate breaking balls; a curveball that sat 77-78 mph with 11/5 break, showing sharp, vertical actions that dropped in the zone, and a slider that sat 79-82 mph with hard, sweeping shape, created multiple check-swings and some swing-and-miss. Rounded out his four-pitch mix with a changeup that sat 82-84 mph with slight fade to the arm-side. An impressive performance from the senior against a talented Monticello lineup.

9/20/23

RHP Henry Brummel (Pontiac, 2024; Indiana Commit) jumped up the board 40 spots to No. 12 in our most recent rankings update. A recent standout at the Illinois State Games, it took minimal effort for Brummel’s fastball to get up to 91 mph this past weekend, sitting mostly 88-90 mph. He also showed two different breaking balls that have potential to be out-pitches in the future. When his command is there, Brummel is one of the top arms in the state of Illinois.

8/08/23

+ RHP Henry Brummel (Pontiac, 2024; Indiana commit) emerged a winner from the event after his dominant showing on the bump. Listed at 6-foot-4, 200-pounds with long limbs and strength throughout. Also went to a fading changeup (14.3” avg. HM), 78-80 mph. Dynamic arsenal that should gather some intrigue from professional scouts this coming spring.
