RHP Isaac Wendler (Father McGivney) showed off some of the better arm-strength for his age in the entire event, working his fastball up to 87 mph while cruising 83-86 mph. He showed to have some feel for a curveball and slider, landing both for strikes in the 67-70 mph range. His final offering was a straight changeup in the mid-70s. He was lights out over his two innings of work, only allowing one hit with no runs or walks and striking out five.
7/17/24
Possessing a strong and muscular 6-foot, 200-pound build, Isaac Wendler was impressive on the mound for the Tigers Scout team. The righty threw six full innings only giving up one run and one hit while striking out nine. Mechanically, Wendler has relaxed shoulders and rides his back leg while throwing out of a high 3/4 arm slot. He hides the ball well in his delivery making it extra difficult for right-handed batters. Wendler shows off a 82-85 mph fastball with a sharp 67-71 mph 12-6 curveball that he consistently throws for strikes. Offensively, Wendler brings a big bat to the plate as he went 1-for-2 with a walk and three RBI’s. Mechanically, he has a wide stance with a toe tap quickly turning on the ball with a compact swing.
5/02/24
Strong, sturdy 6-foot, 200-pound frame with broad shoulders and lower half strength, ranked No. 57 overall in the state’s sophomore class. Started at first base and hit fifth for the Griffins. Wide base at the plate, bat starts resting over back shoulder and works up at load, minimal stride. Strong hands, long right-handed swing, keeps his barrel in the zone with intent to elevate out front. Finished with three hits; barreled a loud single to left field and jumped all over a pitch in the bottom of the 11th, spraying it into right-center field for a walk-off win. Slashing .395/.495/.506 in 98 plate appearances during his sophomore campaign.
