He has superb feel to spin both a slider at 81-84 and a big downer curve at 72-74. Early in the game, he relief mostly on the slider as his out pitch, then gradually started mixing in the curveball early in counts to steal a strike. He used the curve more liberally toward the end of his outing, and he even used it as the putaway pitch to strand the bases loaded in the fifth, ending his outing. He also showed a quality changeup at 83-87 to induce soft contact against righties — it doesn’t have huge action most of the time, but it helps keep hitters off his fastball, which was 91-92 early and mostly held at 89-91 throughout his 106-pitch performance.

Ohio State commit. 6-foot, 160-pound left-handed pitcher, lanky build with tons of athleticism, live actions. Started and went two innings allowing four hits, four walks, three earned runs with one strikeout. Faced a Brother Rice team that had a game plan and executed, eliminated his power breaking ball and attacking his heater early in the count. Quick rocker step to a high knee balance, slight coil with sit on back side, foot strikes closed and slightly open to home, easy finish with quick leg swing over body after release. Hides the ball on back side, super loose and live, high ¾ slot with easy arm speed, arm action suggests velocity jump to come as he fills out.
