Fleming hit a clutch two run homer in the bottom of the 6th to lift York to a 9-8 Win against Hinsdale Central. The senior impressed throughout the whole week going 8-for-12 with four walks, three doubles, home run, six RBIs, seven runs, and six stolen bases.
Grand Valley State commit, currently ranked No. 80 in the state. Athletic and proportioned 6-foot-2, 182-pound frame, still holds room to add muscle in the coming years. Started at second base and hit leadoff in this look, finishing the day 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. The right-handed hitter took one of the more impressive swings we’ve seen this spring, taking 91 mph for the first pitch of the game through the left side for a sharply hit single. Showed the ability to cover the plate and control the barrel, on-time and ready to hit, attacked early in the count.
Verbally committed to Grand Valley State.
Positional Profile: SS/OF
Body: 6-2, 182.1-pounds.
Hit: RHH. Slightly crouched, weight-shift load, no leg lift, minimal stride. Direct, easy swing, slightly uphill path, pull-side approach. 68.9 mph bat speed with 9 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 95 max exit velocity, averaged 89.4 mph. 350’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 83 mph. 3/4 slot, longer arm action.
Defense: Steady hands, fields ball to body, clean transfer. Two-hand gather out front.
Run: 6.86 runner in the 60.
Uncommitted. The No. 41 ranked player in the state turned in a strong day at the plate on Monday collecting two hits off of a high-level arm in the same class. The right-handed hitter has a simple, hitterish setup in the box standing in at a presently strong 6-foot-1, 185-pounds. He uses a leg kick trigger for timing to go with a flat swing path that works direct to the ball. Fleming also impressed with his aggressiveness at the plate, attacking fastballs early in counts. The three-hole hitter for the Dukes is a name to continue to follow in the state’s 2025 class.
Fleming emerged as one of the top hitters in the ‘25 class this past spring as he was named to the PBR Illinois second team All-State. Easy swing with strength in the hands, Advanced bat-speed at the plate with feel for the zone. Aggressive approach, swinging with intent early in the count. Went 2-for-3 on Thursday night with a deep triple to centerfield. Defensively, flashed an advanced glove while making some impressive plays in which he had to range to his right. Also made a couple diving plays with above-average arm strength.
Fleming played a crucial role for York this season as his performance landed him on our second team this season. He slashed .485/.569/.938 across 97 AB where he tallied 47 hits and launched 10 home runs. The power and feel for contact translated from the right-handed box where Fleming did his damage. The numbers at the plate were coupled with impressive defensive performances. Just a sophomore, Fleming’s numbers make him a player to follow in the Illinois’ 2025 class.
The Dukes went 4-2 on the week, moving them to 8-6-1 on the season. Fleming had a stellar week going 10-for-17 (.588) with three home runs, four doubles, 10 RBIs, 13 runs, and two walks. In the Duke's 12-1 win over Glenbard West, Fleming went 2-for-3 with a home run, double, three RBIs, three runs scored, and a walk. He went 1-for-1 with a home run, one RBI, two runs scored, and two walks against Downers Grove North. He added a double and a single with three RBIs and three runs scored in their 17-7 win over Glenbard West.
Season Stats:
19-for-39 (.487 BA/.615 OBP/1.667 OPS/1.051 SLG) 5 HR, 7 2B, 18 RBI, 20 R, 8 BB, 2 SB
Uncommitted. Athletically built, 6-foot-1, 185-pounds. Finished the day at a 2-for-4 clip with a grand-slam. The right-handed hitter has a fluid and strong right-handed stroke that stays simple and direct to the ball, working counts and holding his own extremely well throughout the game - not appearing to be overmatched at any point.
INF/OF Josh Fleming (York, 2025) registered noteworthy TrackMan hitting number from his round of batting practice with a 95.3 mph max exit velocity, 88.8 average (third-best of the event) and the second furthest batted ball at 369 feet. It's a balanced right-handed swing that is long through the zone, stays on-plane with pull-side tendencies. He also took two quality rounds of defense in both the infield and the outfield. On the infield, he uses fluid/choppy feet and soft hands with a clean transfer to lock down the dirt. In the outfield, he plays low to the ground and through the ball with steady hands.
