Grip Strgth (RH)
Grip strength is a measure of a players bat control and ability to transfer power and speed during impact, measured in pounds of force generated; collected with elbow bent at 90 degrees.
Verbally committed to Minnesota.
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 44 in the state, and stands in at a well-proportioned 6-foot-1, 179-pounds. O’Donnell got the start at first base, while batting third, and later closed the game out to earn the save. At the plate, the right-handed hitter displayed a simple approach, not looking to do too much, and hit the ball hard in his final two at-bats, delivering the back-breaking blow late in the game with a two RBI single. He has an athletic, level swing that creates consistent line drive contact to all fields. O’Donnell then came in to close the game out for the Celtics and pounded the zone, only needing seven pitches to record the final three outs, working his fastball up to 88 mph. O’Donnell is one the state’s top remaining uncommitted prospects and will be one to watch heading into the summer.
Creighton commit. Currently ranked No. 37 in the state. Athletic and proportioned 6-foot-1, 179-pound frame, room for added strength. Started on the mound and fired five innings, surrendering five hits and three earned runs. The right-hander worked up to 87 mph early, sitting mostly 85-86 mph with running action to his arm-side. His breaking ball showed 11/5 shape, playing around 74-77 mph and getting up to 78 mph in the fifth inning even though his fastball dropped a couple ticks. He saw some success at the plate as well, finishing 1-for-2 with an RBI and a lineout to left. Simple and repeatable swing with a controlled load, shifting his weight back before moving through with a direct path, works to stay on top of the baseball.
Creighton commit, currently ranked No. 37 in the state. The athletic 6-foot-1, 179-pound infielder started at third base for the Celtics and showed natural and comfortable actions for the position, with an accurate arm across the diamond to pair. Offensively the right-handed hitter batted out of the cleanup spot and went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. O’Donnell has a rhythmic load and a swing that creates extension through contact, while repeatedly working the ball to the opposite part of the field.
Creighton commit. Currently ranked No. 37 in the state. Started on the mound for the Celtics and hit out of the four hole. On the mound, the right-hander still impressed despite unfavorable results, running his fastball up to 89 mph early with heavy arm-side run, cruising around 87-88 mph and settling in at 84-86 in the later innings. To pair off the fastball he went to a sharp curveball at 75-78 mph, playing with depth at times and showing the ability to land it for strikes. At the plate, the right-handed hitter barreled a ball through the left side for a single and also recorded a loud lineout to left field in his final at-bat. Comfortable look in the box, controlled load with a coil, hangs foot into a medium stride, athletic hands that work through the zone.
INF Nathan O’Donnell (Providence Catholic, 2025; Creighton commit) continued to swing a hot bat this weekend, as the recent Future Gamer collected multiple knocks in our brief look. Showed the ability to remain on-time and adjust to off-speed, keeps his hands back and fires through with a flat path. Soft hands with fluid footwork on the infield, easy range to both sides of the glove.
INF/RHP Nathan O’Donnell (Providence Catholic, 2025) made a statement with a loud home run to deep left-center field off of a quality upper-80s arm on Saturday morning. The Creighton commit, who was apart of Team Illinois at this summer's Future Games, has a knack for hard, loud contact and swings with controlled aggression.
Verbally committed to Creighton.
PBR Future Games: A right-handed bat that showed juice in spurts throughout the week: INF Nathan O’Donnell(Providence Catholic, 2025). The 6-foot-1, 190-pound O’Donnell took one of the more impressive BP rounds for Team Illinois, blasting balls on repeat into the right-center gap from an intentful right-handed swing. His furthest ball traveled 367 feet, per TrackMan, while his firmest jumped off his barrel at 97.7 mph, averaging 89.3 mph per batted ball. Aside from his BP at the workout, O’Donnell repeated his efforts before Team Illinois’ second game, hitting six straight balls off the left-center wall in pre-game batting practice, and he also barreled a loud double that way in his first at-bat of the event against Pennsylvania. Also, a follow on the mound, O’Donnell, got one inning in Game two of the event where he flashed his three-pitch repertoire and remains an arm to follow in the class. Name to know in the 2025 class following the Future Games.
PBR Future Games: INF Nathan O’Donnell (Providence Catholic, 2025) was another Illinois infielder who was all over the barrel with some authority during BP. O’Donnell, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound, right-handed hitter, swung with controlled aggression, was on time and hammered baseballs to the big part of the diamond throughout, with balls jumping off the barrel at times. O’Donnell peaked at 97.7 mph off the bat, 89.1 average and launched his furthest batted ball 367’. He also registered four balls over 350’ and three balls came off the bat at 96+ mph. Defensively he is a steady corner infield defender who ran a 7.07 60 and topped at 85 mph across.
Uncommitted. 6-foot-1, 180-pound, well-proportioned, athletically-built, right-handed hitting two-way prospect. Got the start on the mound and hit in the five-hole. Was impressive on the mound, showing a polished three-pitch mix throughout while pounding the zone at an above-average rate (71% strikes on 42 pitches). Worked four innings, scattered three hits, one run, struck out four and walked one. Clean, compact arm action plays out of a high ¾ slot with seemingly much more velocity to come. Repeated well throughout and plays with minimal effort down the mound. Fastball works mostly straight, occasional arm-side-action, controlled the zone and sat 81-83 mph throughout (was up to 87.9 mph this winter). Curveball is an above average offering at 74-75 mph with 11/5 shape and depth. He also flashed a changeup at 76 mph with a feel for the zone. Offensively, he is equally as intriguing taking a number of quality at-bats and swings throughout. He finished 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI. He was consistently on-time while staying short and flat through the zone with twitchy, athletic hands and jump off the barrel. O'Donnell's biggest swing of the day was a two-run double deep down the right-field line. High-follow uncommitted sophomore with an advanced feel for the game and true two-way potential.
3B/RHP Nathan O’Donnell (Providence Catholic, 2025) was yet another right-handed arm who should not put the bat down anytime soon. On the mound worked with a different kind of pace and intent to deliver an upper 80’s fastball at 86-88 mph. O’Donnel threw his curveball with similar conviction at 75-67 mph with 11/5 shape. The bulldog approach to his ‘pen was apparent and if carried over into the season, will impact his game performance even more than his stuff already does.

Offensively, O’Donnell showed quick hands with a short and level path to contact, staying on the barrel to all fields while covering the plate. On the mound, O’Donnell’s 83.2 mph max fastball velocity was the highest among freshmen at the event.
