Oklahoma State commit, currently ranked No. 7 in the state, No. 121 nationally. Started behind the plate and hit leadoff, continuing to show that he is one of the top prep catchers in the entire country. Strong, 6-foot, 210-pound frame with strong shoulders and strength in his lower-half. Took quality at-bats throughout the day with good swing decisions, didn’t expand the zone or chase, walked twice and was on the barrel with a single up the middle, easy bat-speed with strong hands, quick out of the box. Advanced receiver of the baseball, works under the ball with strong hands, works to present pitches around the zone and steal strikes, natural hands and actions, subtle frames. Arm strength is plus, easy life with carry, flashed a 1.92 in between innings, played accurate on the bag. One of the top prep defensive catchers in the country with bat-strength in his right-handed swing.

Super 60: Coming off a fall in which he was one, if not the most dominant quarterback in the state, we were excited to see how Schambow would do in a showcase setting. The broad-shouldered, 6-foot, 209-pound backtop got things started with a respectable 7.00 in the 60 with a peak running speed just under 20 mph (19.8 mph). He showed some strength and feel for the barrel from the right side of the plate throughout his rounds, working up to 97.6 mph with a wood bat and averaging 92.3 mph. Also notably, he had the second-best Vizual Edge score of the entire event with a 81.59. Where he really shined was behind the plate, taking arguably the best round of defense out of everyone in attendance. He has natural actions with soft hands, and his operation down to second is controlled and unrushed, though he still created pop-times in the 1.95-2.02 range. He had the strongest arm in attendance, reaching up to 86 mph from the chute, playing true with impressive accuracy and carry to the bag. Schambow is primed for his biggest spring yet, and he will be one of the most followed catchers in the country for this upcoming draft.

The No. 5 ranked player in the state, Schambow was dominant in 2024 and we expect him to keep it rolling into this coming spring. He earned Third-Team All-State honors last season after hitting his way to a .418 average with 10 doubles, one triple, six home runs, 31 RBIs, 30 walks to 23 strikeouts, and seven stolen bases on the year.

C Quinn Schambow (Libertyville; Oklahoma State) is the top ranked catcher in the state and continued to show why. Defensively, he is highly-advanced with a strong arm behind the plate that is one of his biggest weapons. In-game he is ultra-aggressive throwing behind runners and shutting down the running game. On this day, he showed clean, athletic and highly repeatable actions out of the crouch. His arm was playing easy, with life and accuracy while topping at 83 mph from the crouch with his best pop time coming in at 1.92. Offensively, he has strong hands and elevates the baseball with authority to both gaps at times.

Started behind the plate and hit out of the three-hole for the Wildcats. Impressive right-handed hitter, took a 3-0 pitch off the scoreboard for an opposite field home run. Loose, strong hands, gets in his legs throughout his load and uses them through impact, stays through the zone with a flat path, easy power the other way, takes balls out of the zone with confidence. Natural defender behind the plate, soft receiver that works to steal strikes, above-average catch/throw. Arm plays with easy life down to second, plays true and on the bag. High-level backstop to follow in the state.

Oklahoma State commit. Currently ranked No. 4 in the state, No. 178 in the country. Listed at 6-foot, 193-pounds with lean strength throughout. Advanced defender for his age, works to present the ball around the zone with subtle frames, strong hands. Clean glove to hand, works in-line on throws, recorded as low as a 1.94 pop-time between innings. The right-handed hitter displayed a patient approach, showing a selective eye and taking advantage of pitches left over the middle. Sees spin and is able to sit back, works short to the ball and long through the zone with bat-strength to the whole field. Finished the day with numerous barrels and one single. High-level backstop in the state.

Verbally committed to Oklahoma State.

PBR Future Games: C/RHP Quinn Schambow (Libertyville, 2025) proved to be one of the top prospects and performers on Team Illinois from the Future Games, impressing on both sides of the ball. Positionally, Schambow is a premier defender behind the dish with one of the strongest arms in the state, regardless of class. He led the entire Future Games in peak throwing velocity at Wednesday’s workout (84 mph) and popped a 1.86 on his quickest bullet, which was also among the event’s leaders. His arm translated to the gameplay portion effortlessly, as Schambow back picked a runner at first base and gunned a would-be base stealer at second in the same inning against Team Midwest in game three. At the plate, Schambow finished 5-for-6 with three hits in game one, two total doubles, and he drew four walks, too. After all that, Schambow toed the rubber on the final day and was electric, punching out a pair with an upper-80s fastball, touching 90 mph, while spinning a true swing-and-miss mid-70s slider that reached upwards of 2600 RPM. Schambow was an all-around winner from the event that should garner plenty of interest in the coming weeks. 

PBR Future Games: Schambow showed off his usual big arm behind the plate, topping at 84 mph from the crouch with his arm playing true and with easy life. Schambows low pop time was 1.86 and he also took a noteworthy round of BP working to the big part of the diamond consistently. The right-handed hitter launched his furthest batted ball 353 feet with a peak exit velocity of 93.3 mph. 

Uncommitted and currently ranked No. 22 in the Illinois’ 2025 rankings. 6-foot, 185-pound, right-handed hitting catcher with a strong, wide-shouldered build. Caught and hit in the three-hole. Looks to be one of the top defensive catchers still on the market in the sophomore class. Advanced arm strength; arm plays clean, short and quick with carry. Throws play true and flashed sub-2.00 pop times in between innings. Uses his arm as a weapon, routinely trying to throw behind runners and catch them sleeping on the bases. Also, an above-average receiver, soft hands, strong wrists with the ability to present pitches in and around the zone. WIlling blocker and clean out of the chute. Right-handed hitter with strong hands, natural loft through the zone and competitive look in the box. FInished 1-for-4 with a two-strike single back up the middle in his third at-bat. Ran a 4.55 down the line on a groundout in his first at-bat. High-follow uncommitted sophomore catcher.

Defense: 2.00-2.13 pop times. Took reps behind the plate and from the outfield. As a catcher, balanced base, athletic feet that line up with the bag. Glove starts out front over the plate, soft hands, clean transfer. Worked on one knee in bullpens, quiet receiver. From the outfield, plays through the ball, steady actions.
Run: 7.05 runner in the 60. 

C Quinn Schambow (LIbertyville, 2025) looks to be able to stick behind the plate in the coming years. Built with a strong 6-foot, 180-pound frame, Schambow is defensively advanced for his age and back-picked two runners at second base during gameplay. Offensively, the right-handed hitter took a sound round of BP which translated into gameplay, barrelling line-drives to centerfield multiple times throughout the event.

5-foot-10, 165-pounds, average athletic frame. Even stance at the plate, quick hands, can use the entire field. Behind the plate, he is aware of runners, above average arm for his age. On the mound he works out of a high ¾ slot with a loose arm action, under control leg lift, drop and drive delivery, 75-78 mph fastball topped at 79 mph, 11/5 slurve-type breaking ball at 64-68. Has control of both fastball and off-speed.
