1/26/24

RHP Luke Weber (Highland Park; Illinois) was a former member of Team Illinois at the Future Games in 2022, and he’s continued to solidify himself as one of the state’s top pitching prospects. Athletically built with seemingly more strength to come, Weber stands at 6-foot-1, 180-pounds. He has a controlled and athletic delivery with a quick arm out of a low ¾ slot. Weber’s fastball sits 89-90 mph and has been up to 91.2 mph with a max of 19.1 inches of horizontal movement. His change-up is arguably his best off-speed offering with an average of 20.1 inches of horizontal movement. He also throws a firm slider that sits in the mid-70s.

9/23/23

Turning in a solid performance on the bump on Sunday afternoon was Illinois commit RHP Luke Weber (Highland Park, 2024). A top-500 player in the country, ranked No. 19 in the state, Weber navigated through some early trouble to come away with a final line of: 5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, and 4 K. Weber is a 6-foot-1, 180-pound quick-armed righty who featured a three-pitch mix on Sunday. Weber’s fastball played with arm-side run in the mid-to-upper 80’s touching 89 mph. His offspeed consisted of a short breaking ball and a quality changeup that he was able to control to both sides of the plate to both lefties and righties.

6/08/23

RHP Luke Weber (Highland Park, 2024) is a 6-foot, 170-pound right-hander with a fluid-moving operation. He creates notable hip/shoulder separation at foot-strike to go along with his loose/flexible lower-half. He worked his fastball in the 85-86 mph range, playing with sinking action. His changeup dives late and hard to his arm-side at 79-81 mph, tugging to his glove-side at times but showing an overall feel for the zone. He also went to a tight slider at 75-76 mph, playing with short 10/4 shape and thrown for strikes.

6/06/23

RHP Luke Weber (Highland Park, 2024) was a member of Team Illinois at the PBR Future Games last summer and impressed yet again in our look in early June. The Illinois commit is an athletic 6-foot-1, 180-pound quick operator with a quality pace during his bullpen, showing a repeatable and athletic delivery. Weber moves fluidly and clean down the mound, working over his front leg. Working with a three-pitch mix, Weber’s fastball sat 89-91 mph, topping out at 91.2 mph (tied for the event high) from a low release height; also averaged 15.4” of horizontal movement, T19.1”. His change-up his arguably his best secondary and showed heavy fade to the armside (20.1” HM avg). Rounding out his arsenal, Weber threw a firm slider that sat 76-78 mph with 12.6” of horizontal movement and 2141 average rpm.

5/24/23

Illinois commit, currently the No. 20 overall player in the state’s junior class. Standing at a lean 6-foot-1, 180-pounds with some room for continued physical development and is a high level athlete. Athletic drop and drive delivery, works in-line towards the plate, lands front foot open and throws with intent. Fluid, whippy arm action out of a ¾ slot with arm speed out front. Fastball sat 87-89, T90 mph throughout his outing and was able to spot in the zone and generate swings and misses. Showed two offspeed pitches; a slider that worked at 79-81 mph, with tight lateral movement and flashed a fading changeup that he threw with intent. A high level arm in the state’s junior class that continues to impress in our looks.

RHPs Aidan Hayse (Joliet Catholic) and Luke Weber (Highland Park) are two committed arms that currently sit towards the top of the class and continue to enhance their arsenals.

Weber, a former Team Illinois Future Games participant and recent Illinois commit, has long had a highly-athletic, loose arm tailored for more velocity to come down the road. His fastball at the event topped at 91.3 mph (up from 87.9 in 2022) but it was the development of a new sweeping slider that was the biggest revelation. The slider shows all kinds of promise with tight spin and late lateral action that has the makings of a swing-and-miss pitch if he can continue to corral it. The changeup was once again a plus offering as we have seen in the past, thrown with all kinds of feel and action at the bottom of the zone.

7/14/22

Projectable frame with a whippy arm, drop and drive delivery that rides well down the mound, worked efficiently for Top Tier, only needing 44 pitches to get through three innings of work. Where he showed a starters repertoire  with a lively FB 84-86 T87mph with run, a CH with fade and depth that he sells, and a SL that he throws for strikes.

2/26/22

Two of the top fastball offerings of the day belong to the big right arms of Luke Weber (Highland Park, 2024) and Wyatt Mammen (Lincoln, 2024). Both had two of the better fastball velocity ranges at the event, proving they were able to hold high-end velocity throughout their ‘pen. Weber sat 87-88 mph and Mammen brought a comfortable 88-90 fastball that felt hard and heavy. At 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, it's easy to see Mammen growing and holding even more velocity down the road for long stretches.
