2/1/15 - Doran Turchin (Oak Creek) is a physical right-handed hitting outfielder and showed some of that physicality in his round of BP. Turchin posted an 88 mph exit velocity from the tee, 90 mph arm from the outfield and ran a 7.04 in the 60. An Illinois commit, Turchin hits from an open, slightly narrow stance, and maintains strong balance throughout. He’s a gap to gap type hitter, with a short quick stroke that flashes occasional power as well. Defensively he plays aggressively through the baseball and his arm stays online and accurate, it plays well from the outfield and will pose a threat to baserunners with its accuracy and carry.
3/20/14 - Verbally committed to Illinois in his junior year.
2/9/14 - Advanced strength, 6-foot-1, 190-pound outfielder, highly developed build. Currently one of the best available prospects in the state. Defensively has plus arm strength from the outfield, 94 mph from his crow hop. Traditional outfield arm action, long over the top arm slot, produces advanced carry, athletic arm action. Natural outfield actions, plays through the baseball aggressively and efficiently, exchange is clean and stays online through the baseball. Advanced foot speed, 4.09 runner down the line. Advanced offensive abilities, hits from a tall narrow stance, using smooth loading action and regular stride length, quiet setup. Maintains excellent balance while generating advanced bat speed.  Shows quick twitch hands, bat path is short with extension, fluid rhythm, athletic hitter. 91 mph exit velocity from the tee. Turchin is a high level prospect with advanced athletic abilities.
8/4/13 - Turchin is one of the most dynamic athletes in the class. The 6-foot, 185-pound outfielder stood out at the Midwest Future Games with his natural athleticism and playmaking abilities. Offensively he showed a naturally powerful stroke as the ball jumps off his bat with little effort. Turchin was solid at the plate recording multiple hits as well as stealing third twice. He clearly shows game changing abilities that will go a long way at the next level. Turchin also shows advanced arm strength in the outfield at 89 mph. He plays through the baseball athletically and shows the foot speed to close down the gaps as well as being a nuisance on the base paths. Turchin was named one of the Top Ten Risers from the Midwest Future Games and has certainly caught the attention of many college coaches across the country.
1/27/13 - Physically advanced, plus strength for age, strong athletic build, 6-foot, 182-pound outfielder. Turchin is one of the more physically advanced athletes in the Class of 2015. Excellent athleticism, plus arm strength for age, projects as an elite level outfielder. Defensively shows advanced athletic actions, quick clean exchange, footwork is fluid and athletic, aggressive actions to the baseball. Arm action works well, well above average arm strength for age, 89 mph arm strength from the outfield. Offensively hits from slightly open stance, smooth load, short stride approach. Aggressive swing, above average hands, bat path is short and level showing extension. Gap to gap hitter with power. Excellent rhythm and balance throughout. Turchin’s advanced physical frame projects well at the next level.
