Preseason I.D. - Lockport: Pitcher Analysis

In February, we hosted our annual Lockport preseason event at Bo Jackson’s Elite Sports Dome. The showcase was our largest ever, meaning there were more pitchers on hand than we’d ever seen before, too, making the list below lengthy but also full of talent.

Brandon McPherson (Marmion), an uncommitted senior, recorded that day’s hardest fastball (91 mph) and paired it with a couple of breaking balls that might not make him uncommitted for long.

Lincoln-Way West’s Robert Jackman Jr., a junior, recorded the day’s next hardest fastball but he wasn’t the only 2019 to grab our attention. Jacob Karaba (Neuqua Valley) used his quick arm speed and advanced three-pitch mix to earn one of the top spot’s the the list below.

Sophomores Ryan Manikowski (Providence Catholic) and Alberto Lamas (Joliet Catholic) asserted themselves as two high-follow arms as they mature and develop further.

TOP 2018 PITCHER

Brandon McPherson, RHP, Marmion, 2018
6-foot-3, 230 pound, strong, athletic right handed pitching prospect. Drop and drive delivery, utilizes lower half very well and creates angle and tilt down in the zone, repeatable delivery. Directionally in line, slightly closed landing, occasionally falls to first base side, athletic finish. Regular effort throughout, long arm action, quick arm speed out front with an over the top slot. Fastball is heavy, creates downhill tilt, flashed hard sink when down in the zone, sat 88-90 mph, topped 91 mph. Curveball, 12/6 shape, breaks early out of the hand, ranged 73-79 mph. Slider, similar curveball shape, fluid arm speed, ranged 74-77 mph.

TOP 2019 PITCHING PROSPECTS

1. Jacob Karaba, RHP, Neuqua Valley, 2019
6-foot, 180 pound, athletic build, right handed pitching prospect. Tilt and topple delivery, uses frame to create angle, 3rd base setup, gets extension to glove side. Square to home, in line directionally, slightly closed landing and finishes marginally upright. Loose, clean arm action, quick arm speed throughout, high ¾ slot, regular effort involved. Firm fastball, showed good run and occasional sink in the zone, 85-87 mph. Curveball, 11/5 shape, sat 73-75 mph. Changeup maintained arm speed, arm side run, some feel, 77-78 mph.   

2. Jack Hansen, RHP, Lane Tech, 2019
6-foot-1, 185 pound, long limbed, right handed pitching prospect. Tilt and topple delivery, in line to home, square landing with an athletic finish, smooth rhythm throughout. High front side, loose, short arm action, quick arm out front, high ¾ slot, some effort involved. Heavy fastball, straight with occasional run, around the zone, sat 85-86 mph. Curveball, 11/5 sharp break, thrown for strikes, 72-73 mph. Changeup had fastball arm speed, arm side run, 75-77 mph. Splitter, fastball plane, showed depth, ranged 70-74 mph.

3. Ryan Klainos, RHP/OF, Libertyville, 2019
6-foot-1, 205-pound, two-way prospect, strong lower half. Right-handed pitcher with repeatable, tilt and topple delivery, utilizes lower half, stays on-line, lands square, finishes athletically with easy effort throughout. Quick, loose arm action, over-the-top slot. Fastball around the zone, run and sink action when down in the zone, sat 84-86 mph, touched 87. Curveball, sharp action, 10/4 shape, 72-74 mph. Changeup, fastball arm speed, fade action to the arm side, 77-80 mph. In the outfield, flashed a well above average arm, short over the top arm action, throws carried at 88 mph. Fluid footwork at times, steady hands and plays through baseball. Right-handed hitter, balanced setup, strong, simple swing, 79 mph exit velocity. Ran a 7.66 laser timed 60.

4. Nathan Hardman, RHP, Normal University, 2019
6-foot-2, 190 pound, athletically built, right handed pitching prospect. Tilt and topple style, directionally in line, square landing, solid, athletic finish, smooth rhythm throughout. High front side, loose, short, clean arm action, quick arm speed, over the top slot, gets over front side well, creates angle, easy effort involved. Fastball was straight, occasional hard run, 81-85 mph, topped 86 mph. Curveball showed depth, 11/5 shape, 69-72 mph. Changeup, maintains fastball arm speed, good fading action, ranged 75-79 mph.

5. Robert Jackman Jr., RHP/OF, Lincoln-Way West, 2019
6-foot-3, 200-pound, athletically-built two-way prospect. Right-handed pitcher, easy delivery, strong balance point, level shoulders, utilizes lower half,  stays in line with home plate, square landing and athletic finish. High ¾ arm slot, quick arm speed, loose arm action. Heavy fastball, around the zone, slight run at times, ranged from 83-89 mph, touched 90. Curveball, gradual action, 11/5 spin, 62-64 mph. Slider, dropped arm slot, horizontal frisbee action, good arm speed, sat 67-68 mph. In the outfield, showed natural ability, clean exchange, short and loose arm action, over the top slot, flashed above average arm strength with carry at 86 mph. Offensively, strong, balanced setup, long bat bath, 87 mph exit velocity. Ran a 7.21 laser timed 60.

6. Jay Schueler, RHP, Rock Falls, 2019
6-foot-1, 165 pound, lean, right handed pitching prospect. Drop and drive delivery, no wasted movements, directionally straight, square landing, athletic finish. Short, loose arm on back side, quick out front out of a ¾ slot, regular effort throughout. Fastball was straight, firm, at 82-84 mph, topped 86 mph. Curveball had 11/5 shape, up in the zone, early release, sat 71-73 mph. Changeup, straight movement, maintains arm speed, showed feel, 79-82 mph.

7. Tim Rybarczyk, RHP, Lincoln-Way Central, 2019
6-foot-5, 225 pound, strong build, projectable size, solid lower half, right handed pitching prospect. Tall and fall style, rocks back at balance point, slightly opened landing, gets back in line directionally, smooth rhythm. Short, quick arm action, athletic out front, high ¾ arm slot, regular effort involved. In or around the zone with all three pitches. Heavy fastball, straight, occasional sink when down, 83-85 mph. Slider, 11/5 shape, maintains arm speed, down in the zone, 71-74 mph. Changeup has fastball arm speed, flashed hard fade, 78-81 mph.

8. Dean Procarione, RHP, Minooka, 2019
6-foot-1, 180 pound, athletically built, right handed pitching prospect. Up, down and out delivery, slight sit on back leg, directionally in line, square to home, athletic finish, smooth rhythm throughout. Short, clean arm action, quick arm speed out of a high ¾ slot, easy effort involved. Firm fastball, slight run in the zone, ranged 82-86 mph, topped 87 mph. Curveball, 11/5 shape, tight break, ranged 64-68 mph. Changeup, present arm speed, occasionally stiff, dropped out of the zone at 74-77 mph.

9. Tristan Cazel, RHP, St. Charles North, 2019
6-foot, 180 pound, long limbed, athletic right handed pitching prospect. Drop and drive delivery, quick tempo, rocker step load, athletic balance point, directionally in line, square landing, athletic finish. Loose arm action, quick out front, high ¾ arm slot, regular effort throughout. Fastball, straight, occasional run, ranged 80-84 mph. Curveball, 12/6 shape, gradual break, 68-71 mph. Changeup showed sink, ranged 73-76 mph. Cutter, acted more as a slider, some depth, 10/4 break, ranged 72-75 mph.

10. TJ Heafey, LHP, Minooka, 2019
6-foot-4, 220 pound, wide frame, left handed pitcher. Tall and fall delivery, shoulders slightly uphill, in line directionally, lands closed with an athletic finish. High ¾ arm slot, short arm action, wraps at times, good arm speed, regular effort. Fastball, slight sinking action, sat 81-83 mph. Slider, sharp 10/4 spin, near fastball arm speed, in and around the zone at 70-73 mph. Changeup, maintains fastball arm speed, faded, ranged from 72-74 mph.

10. Noah Cantleberry, LHP, Lincoln-Way Central, 2019
6-foot, 155 pound, lanky, left handed pitching prospect. Tall and fall delivery, cross bodied style, high front side, closed landing, some athleticism in finish. Quick tempo, long, loose arm action, occasional stab on back side, high ¾ slot, regular effort throughout. Fastball, arm side run, 81-83 mph. Curveball, 1/7 shape, sweeps when arm speed is maintained, 66-67 mph. Changeup had good fade, in the zone, ranged 72-75 mph.

TOP 2020 PITCHING PROSPECTS

1. Ryan Manikowski, RHP, Providence Catholic, 2020
5-foot-11, 155 pound lanky, athletic right handed pitcher with plenty room for physical development. Hybrid delivery, tilt and topple style, extension with lower half, wraps shoulders at balance point, gets back in line directionally, athletic finish out front. Short, loose arm action, clean, quick arm speed, high ¾ slot and easy effort throughout. Heavy sinking fastball, down in the zone, sat 83-85 mph. Slider had 11/5 late break, present arm speed, plus pitch with depth, sat 75-76 mph. Changeup flashed sink, a little stiff, ranged from 74-78 mph.

2. Alberto Lamas, RHP, Joliet Catholic, 2020
6-foot-2, 175 pound average build, long limbed, right handed pitching prospect. Tall and fall delivery, directionally in line, square to home, athletic in extension and finish. Fluid, clean arm action, can get long, breaks hands early, quick out front, over the top slot, some effort throughout. Fastball was straight, slight run, ranged 78-82 mph. Curveball had 12/6 shape, breaks early out of the hand, 63-68 mph. Slider, 11/5 shape, similar to curve, 63-66 mph. Changeup, maintains arm speed, flashed sink in the zone, ranged 68-72 mph.

3. Michael Vallone, LHP/OF, Lake Forest, 2020
6-foot, 160-pound, long-limbed, left/left, two-way prospect. On the mound, drop and drive delivery, directionally in line, good balance point, slight pause, closed landing, athletic finish, gets over front side well. Long, loose arm action, high ¾ slot, regular effort throughout; Fastball, slight arm side run, commands the plate, ranged 76-78 mph. Curveball, 10/4 shape, sat 67-69 mph. Changeup, maintains arm speed, fades, good feel, ranged 71-74 mph. At the plate, balanced setup, minimal stride. Compact, short bat path, occasional hard contact, line drive type. Exit velocity topped 79 mph off a tee. Defensively, clean exchange, long arm action, high ¾ slot, throws topped 79 mph from the outfield. Ran a 7.34 laser timed 60.

4. Daniel Dombrowski, RHP/OF, Providence Catholic, 2020
6-foot, 187 pound, strong, two way prospect. On the mound, right handed pitcher, tall and fall delivery, utilizes lower half well, in line directionally, athletic finish. Loose arm action, quick arm speed, high ¾ arm slot, some effort involved. Fastball, slight run, favored arm side, sat 80-81 mph, topped 82 mph. Curveball, 11/5 shape, occasionally gets around the ball, ranged 65-68 mph. Changeup, arm side run, in the zone, sat 71-72 mph. Cutter, best pitch, in the zone, 79-81 mph. Offensively, crouched, open setup, short stride, back load, balance throughout. Level path, gets extension, fast bat speed, creates lift, plus contact; 88 mph exit velocity off a tee. Defensively, clean exchange, plays through the ball, long arm action, high ¾ slot, throws topped 83 from the outfield. Ran a 8.09 laser timed 60.

5. Ken Middleton, RHP, Providence Catholic, 2020
6-foot-3, 175 pound right handed pitcher. Tilt and topple delivery, smooth rhythm and easy effort throughout. Shoulders down hill, lands closed, tendency to fall off at finish. Consistent balance point, loose arm action, maintains arm speed. Fastball, cut out of the hand, down in the strike zone, sat 78-80 mph. Curveball, 11/5 gradual breaking shape, near fastball arm speed, sat 66-67 mph. Changeup, maintained arm speed, cut often, thrown for strikes, ranged from 69-72 mph.

TOP 2021 PITCHING PROSPECTS

1. Reed Gannon, LHP/OF, Minooka, 2021
6-foot-1, 150-pound, athletic-build, lanky, two-way prospect. On the mound, projectable left handed pitcher, tall and fall type, good balance point, directionally in line, slightly closed landing, athletic finish, smooth rhythm throughout. Long, clean, loose arm action, quick arm speed, easy effort, finishes out front with a high ¾ slot. Fastball showed run, arm side, sat 75-76 mph. Curveball, 1/7 in shape, ranged 62-66 mph. Changeup had arm side run, in the zone, 66-69 mph. Slider, 2/8 shape, good arm speed, feel, 64-67 mph. At the plate, tall, open setup, leg kick trigger, rhythm throughout. Level path, compact swing, 78 mph exit velocity off tee. In the outfield, clean exchange, short arm action, high ¾ slot, throws topped 76 mph. Ran a 7.67 laser timed 60.

2. Jeremy Fox, RHP/INF, Riverside-Brookfield, 2021
5-foot-8, 150-pound, athletically built, two-way prospect. Above-average arm strength on the mound, for his age. Right-handed pitcher, repeated delivery, worked on-line, finished upright. Loose, quick arm action from a high ¾ slot with easy effort throughout. Fastball, ball comes out of the hand easy, slight arm-side-run, sat 79-80 mph, touched 83. Curveball, 11/5 shape, depth, ranged between 61-66 mph. Changeup, maintains arm speed at times, fade and sink action, 68-71 mph. At the plate, right-handed hitter, balanced setup, leg-lift timing trigger, long, uphill bat path and a pull approach. Exit velocity clocked at 79 mph from a tee. On the infield, long, loose arm action, low ¾ slot and throws topped at 77 mph across the infield. 7.61 runner in the 60.

3. Charlie Cmiel, INF/LHP, York, 2021
5-foot-11, 145-pound, lanky, high-waisted two-way player. On the mound, left-handed pitcher, drop and drive delivery, closed landing, cross-bodied style with some athleticism in finish. Long, loose arm action, some quickness out front, high ¾ arm slot with some effort involved. Fastball flashed run, around the zone, 74-76 mph. Slider, 1/7 shape, sat 61-63 mph. Changeup showed some sink with arm speed, 66-69 mph. Offensively, right-handed hitter, balanced setup, back load with a short stride. Long, uphill path, pull side tendencies and exit velocity topped 76 mph off a tee. Defensively, steady footwork, clean exchange, long arm with a high ¾ slot. Throws topped 74 mph across. Ran a laser timed 8.11 60.

3. Sava Dupor, RHP/INF, Glenbrook South, 2021
5-foot-10, 150-pound, well-proportioned, right-handed hitting two way prospect. On the mound, right-handed pitcher, drop and drive style, clean delivery, works in line with an athletic finish out front, some rhythm throughout. Quick arm speed, loose, short arm action out of an over the top slot with some effort involved. Fastball was straight, flashed late run, ranged 74-77 mph, topped 78 mph. Curveball, 11/5 shape, sharp with tight spin, 64-67 mph. Changeup maintained arm speed, faded in the zone at 68-70 mph. Offensively, balanced setup, short toe tap trigger. Compact swing, short, level bat path and exit velocity topped 75 mph off a tee. Defensively, quick, fluid footwork, short, loose arm action with an over the top slot. Throws were accurate, topped 75 mph across the infield. Ran a laser-timed 8.30 60.

5-foot-11, 155-pound, lean, two-way prospect with plenty of room for continued physical development. On the mound, right-handed pitcher, tall and fall delivery, works across his body and lands slightly closed at times. Short arm action, high ¾ slot. Fastball flashed slight arm-side-run, 77-78 mph, touched 79. Curveball 11/5 shape, 60 mph. Changeup, sinking action at times, 64-66 mph. At the plate, right-handed hitter, wide, quiet setup, heel-lift stride. Long, uphill bat path and 81 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively, reliable hands, quick clean transfer, short arm action, high ¾ slot and throws clocked at 73 mph across the infield.  

Will Anderson, RHP/INF, Prairie Ridge, 2020
6-foot-1, 190-pound, thick, two-way prospect. At the plate, right-handed hitter, wide, crouched setup and toe-tap stride. Present bat strength, occasional hard contact, gap-to-gap approach and 81 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively, at first base, plays through the baseball at times, clean transfer, long arm action, high ¾ slot and throws topped at 73 mph. On the mound, right-handed pitcher, drop and drive delivery, works on-line and front foot lands slightly closed. Clean arm action, high ¾ slot with regular effort throughout. Fastball works mostly straight, slight arm-side-run, sat 74-76 mph, topped at 77. Curveball, 11/5 shape, 66-67 mph. Changeup, mostly straight, sink at times, 71-72 mph.  

Bryan Avalos, RHP/INF, Lincoln-Way West, 2020
5-foot-9, 135-pound, wiry, two-way prospect. On the mound, right-handed pitcher, tall and fall delivery, works with rhythm at times and stays on-line. Long, loose arm action, high ¾ slot and regular effort throughout. Fastball, run and sink action, 71-72 mph. Curveball, 11/5 shape, 62-65 mph. Changeup, fade action, 65-67 mph. At the plate, right-handed hitter, balanced setup, short stride and early load. Long bat path stays level through the zone at times and 70 mph exit velocity from a tee. On the infield, clean exchange, throws from a ¾ slot and clocked at 66 mph. 8.14 runner in the 60.

Christian Bedolla, LHP, Walter Payton College Prep, 2020
5-foot-8, 148 pound left handed pitcher, average built, athletic actions. Tall and fall style, stretch only, 3rd base setup, level shoulders, slightly closed landing, athletic finish, smooth rhythm involved. Short, loose arm action, quick arm speed, aggressive out front, high ¾ slot with some effort throughout. Fastball showed some run, occasionally cut, in the zone, 74-76 mph. Curveball, 10/4 shape, firm spinner, present arm speed, 67-70 mph. Changeup maintained arm speed, in the zone with fade, sat 71-72 mph.

Adam Bendoraitis, RHP/INF, Batavia, 2020
5-foot-10, 160-pound, athletically built, two-way prospect. On the mound, right-handed pitcher, tall and fall delivery, lands square, finishes athletically with regular effort throughout. Short arm action, from an over-the-top slot. Fastball works mostly straight, cut at times, down in the zone, 78-80 mph, touched 81.Curveball, 11/5 shape, sharp action, tight spin, depth at times, 66-67 mph. Changeup sat 68-72 mph. At the plate, left-handed hitter, balanced, slightly open setup, quiet in the box and short stride. Aggressive swing, creates bat speed at times, hard contact, extension through contact, pull-side approach; 80 mph exit velocity from a tee. On the infield, steady hands, packs on exchange, loose arm action, low ¾ slot, accurate throws clocked at 78 mph across the infield. 7.68 runner in the 60.

Zachary Blazekovich, INF/P, Joliet Catholic, 2021
6-foot-3, 165-pound, high-waisted, lanky, two-way player. At the plate, tall setup, leg lift trigger, back drop load. Uphill bat path, looks to lift and exit velocity topped 79 mph off a tee. Defensively, long arm action with a  high ¾ arm slot. Throws topped 61 mph across the diamond. Ran a 8.01 laser-timed 60. On the mound, right-handed pitcher, drop and drive delivery, quick, occasionally rushed tempo, open toe landing, falls to third at finish. Long, loose arm action, high ¾ slot, regular effort involved. Fastball was straight, occasional cut, ranged 69-72 mph. Curveball, 11/5 shape, sat 58-60 mph. Changeup showed sink, around the zone, ranged 63-69 mph.

Collin Boyd, 1B/RHP, Yorkville, 2019
6-foot-1, 180-pound, two-way prospect, strong, well-proportioned build. Right-handed hitter, balanced setup, minimal load, short stride. Long bat path and 79 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively, at first base, clean transfer, long arm action, high ¾ slot and throws clocked at 75 mph across the diamond. 8.10 runner in the 60. On the mound, right-handed pitcher, works from the first base side of the rubber, deliberate tall and fall delivery, works on-line and finishes upright at times. Long arm action, high ¾ slot. Fastball arm-side-run at times, sat 74-76 mph, topped at 77. Curveball worked 11/5, 67-70 mph. Changeup, maintains arm speed at times, 73-74 mph.  

Daniel Brannigan, INF/RHP, St. Rita, 2019
6-foot, 220-pound, big-bodied, two-way prospect. At the plate, right-handed hitter, pre-pitch rhythm, smooth load and short stride. Gap-to-gap approach, bat strength and 88 mph exit velocity from a tee. At first base, quick, clean release, short arm action, high ¾ slot and throws topped at 73 mph across the diamond. Ran an 8.25 60. On the mound, right-handed pitcher, delivery works slightly across his body, high front side, regular effort throughout. Short arm action, over-the-top slot. Fastball works straight, sat 75-77 mph. Curveball, 12/6 shape, 60-62 mph. Forkball, knuckle action at times, 65-67 mph. Changeup, ranged between 66-70 mph.

Keaton Bubala, RHP, Latin School of Chicago, 2018
6-foot-4, 195 pound, long-limbed, athletic, right handed pitching prospect. Tall and fall delivery, closed landing, cross bodied style, athletic finish with a quick tempo. Long arm on back side, quick arm speed out front, good extension out of a high ¾ arm slot. Fastball, straight, easy out of the hand, ranged 79-81 mph. Curveball, 12/6 shape, gradual movement, sat 71-72 mph. Changeup showed sink at fastball arm speed, 76-77 mph.

Joshua Burke, INF/RHP, Notre Dame, 2021
6-foot, 170-pound, athletically-built, right-handed hitting infielder. Balanced setup, pre-pitch load, long leg kick trigger with some rhythm. Short, uphill bat path and showed pull side tendencies throughout. Occasional hard contact and exit velocity topped 79 mph off a tee. Defensively, loose arm, long on the back side, high ¾ slot. Throws flashed carry at 77 mph across. Ran a 7.37 60. On the mound, right-handed pitcher, works in line, sturdy balance point, square landing. Long draw on back side, some arm speed out front with a high ¾ slot. Threw strikes with all three pitches. Fastball had run, occasionally cut, sat 73-75 mph topping 76 mph. Curveball, 11/5 shape, good spin, ranged 60-62 mph. Changeup faded with fastball arm speed, flashed feel for pitch, sat 65-68 mph.

Hunter Burton, INF/RHP, Oak Lawn, 2019
6-foot-3, 220-pound, two-way prospect, durable frame. At the plate, right-handed hitter, balanced setup, short stride and uphill bat path; 82 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively, clean transfer at times, short, over-the-top arm action, true ball clocked at 76 mph across the diamond. 7.95 runner in the 60. On the mound, delivery works on-line, lands square with regular effort throughout. Short, over-the-top arm action. Fastball worked straight, occasional tilt, thrown for strikes, 76-78 mph. Curveball 12/6 shape, maintains arm speed, strikes at times, 67-68 mph. Changeup, straight, 71-72 mph.

Nino Christopher, INF/RHP, St. Francis, 2019
5-foot-11, 170-pound, athletically built, two-way prospect. At the plate, tall, slightly open setup, short knee-knock stride. Simple swing, short, level bat path, sprayed balls to all fields. 80 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively, steady hands, long exchange, plays tall through release. Long arm action, high ¾ slot, accurate throws clocked at 77 mph across the infield. 8.27 runner in the 60. On the mound, right-handed pitcher, smooth, deliberate tall and fall delivery, slight hesitation at balance point. Arm works loose and out of a high ¾ slot. Fastball thrown for strikes, works straight, sat 76-77 mph. Curveball, 11/5 shape, maintains arm speed at times, 63-64 mph. Changeup, flashed arm-side-run, occasional fade 69-71 mph.

Joe Ciero, RHP/INF, Glenbard West, 2019
5-foot-11, 85-pound, strong, two-way prospect, durable lower half. On the mound, compact, smooth delivery, works on-line, lands square and finishes athletically. Arm works short and quick form a high ¾ slot. Fastball, down in the zone, occasional arm-side-run, 80-82 mph, touched 83. Curveball worked 11/5, maintains arm speed, feel, sat 62-65 mph. Changeup, down in the zone, sinking action, 71-73 mph. At the plate, right-handed hitter, wide setup, pronounced pre-pitch load, short stride. Long, level bat path, flashed bat strength, 82 mph exit velocity from a tee. On the infield, fields athletically, receptive hands. Short, over-the-top arm action, throws clocked at 73 mph. 7.43 runner in the 60.  

Kyle Coates, RHP, Elgin, 2019
6-foot-1, 195 pound, athletically built, right handed, side arm pitching prospect. Works solely out of the stretch, directionally in line, closed, athletic landing, smooth rhythm throughout. Short, loose arm action, side slot, regular effort involved, around the zone with all pitches. Fastball, good, late run, ranged from 76-79 mph. Slider, 1/7 shape, gradual movement, 67-70 mph. Changeup had sink, feel for pitch, sat 70-72 mph.

6-foot-2, 160 pound, lanky, long limbed, left handed pitching prospect. Tilt and topple style, high front side, directionally in line, slightly closed landing with an athletic finish. Long arm action, high ¾ slot, some rhythm involved and easy effort throughout. Fastball showed slight run, around the zone, 76-78 mph. Curveball had 2/8 gradual break, 67-68 mph. Changeup/palmball maintained arm speed, flashed heavy sink, ranged 72-75 mph. Slider showed similar to curveball, more firm, 71-73 mph.

Joseph Tor, RHP, Lockport, 2019
6-foot, 205 pound, athletic right handed pitching prospect. Utilizes a three pitch mix with a repeatable delivery and good tempo throughout. Slight drop and drive on back side, rhythm involved, directionally in line, square landing with an athletic finish. Long arm action leads to a quick arm speed out front, high ¾ arm slot, with regular effort throughout. Creates angle on fastball, showed run in the zone, 79-81 mph, topped 82 mph. Curveball had 12/6 shape, sharp break down in the zone, 58-61 mph. Changeup maintains fastball arm speed, faded, sat 67-68 mph.

Ryan Tribe, INF/RHP, St. Rita, 2020
5-foot-11, 155-pound, well-proportioned, two-way prospect. On the mound, right-handed pitcher, tall and fall delivery, smooth rhythm, works on-line, lands square and athletically with easy effort throughout. Clean, uninterrupted arm circle and comes out of a high ¾ slot. Fastball flashed arm-side-run, thrown for strikes, 73-75 mph. Curveball, 10/4 shape, 63-65 mph. Changeup, quality secondary offering, thrown for strikes, arm-side-run and sink, 66-68 mph. At the plate, right-handed hitter, wide, slightly open setup, smooth load and leg-lift timing trigger. Long bat path and 77 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively, reliable hands, plays through the baseball, short arm action, high ¾ slot and throws topped at 73 mph. 7.71 runner in the 60.

Joe Unger, C/P, Schaumburg, 2019
5-foot-9, 175 pound, thick, stocky framed, right-handed hitting two way prospect. Offensively, balanced, tall setup, high leg kick trigger with some rhythm throughout. Long, uphill bat path, showed pull side tendencies. Exit velocity topped 84 mph off a tee. Defensively, blocked the ball well, showed soft hands with a clean exchange. Throws down to second topped 71 mph and pop times ranged 2.15-2.18. Ran an 8.33 60. On the mound, works in line to home, lands square and finishes athletically. Throws with rhythm, long arm on the back-side, some quickness out front with a high ¾ slot. Fastball was straight, sat 77-78 mph. Curveball, 12-6 shape, flashed depth, down in the zone, ranged 64-67 mph. Slider, same shape as curveball, thrown harder at 68-69 mph. Changeup, faded, with arm speed, 70-73 mph.

Justin Valdez, LHP, St. Rita, 2020
6-foot-2, 155 pound left handed pitcher, lanky, long limbs. Fluid motions in delivery, in line to home, slight open landing, rotational after balance point, easy effort throughout. Long, loose arm action, a little whippy, ¾ arm slot, utilizes a five pitch mix. Fastball had some run, sink when down, ranged 72-75 mph. Curveball gradually broke with 2/8 spin, up in the zone, 65-72 mph. Changeup faded around the zone, 64-67 mph. Knuckleball tumbled, feel for pitch, 61-65 mph. Cutter had a some depth, acted as a firm slider, sat 68 mph.

Dallas Vanmeter, INF/RHP, Minooka, 2020
5-foot-5, 134-pound, two-way prospect. At the plate, right-handed hitter, balanced, wide setup, no load and short heel-lift stride. Level bat path and 73 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively, short arm action, high ¾ slot, accurate throws topped at 72 mph across the infield. 7.44 runner in the 60. On the mound, right-handed pitcher, coiled at balance point, works on-line, lands front foot slightly closed. Short arm action, high ¾ slot. Fastball sat 73-75 mph, topped at 77. Splitter sat 62-66 mph. Changeup, 64-66 mph.  

Dylan Wrona, SS/RHP, Metea Valley, 2020
6-foot-1, 145 pound, lanky and athletically framed, two-way player. Some effort in delivery, quick rhythm and tempo, throws from a high ¾ arm slot with some arm speed. Fastball showed natural run and occasional heavy sink. Sat 75-78 mph. Curveball showed gradual 12/6 break, ranged 65-69 mph. Changeup had straight movement, 65-68 mph. Defensively, showed good hands, plays through the ball, high ¾ arm slot, long arm action, 78 mph across the diamond. Right handed hitter, balanced stance, toe tap trigger, long bat path, flashed bat speed. 78 mph exit velocity off the tee. Ran a laser timed 60 at 7.89.   

Jacob Zandy, INF/P, Tinley Park, 2020
5-foot-10, 150-pound, wiry, two-way prospect. At the plate, right-handed hitter, open setup, toe-tap stride that gets back to square. Uphill bat path and 83 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively, long arm action, over-the-top slot and throws clocked at 73 mph across the infield. 8.05 runner in the 60. On the mound, right-handed pitcher, slight drop and drive delivery, works on-line with regular effort throughout. Long arm action out of an over-the-top slot. Fastball works straight, sat 75-77 mph. Curveball, around the zone, 12/6 shape, 60-63 mph. Changeup, near fastball arm speed, feel, 65-67 mph.

Brandon Zuniga, RHP, Rolling Meadows, 2020
6-foot-4, 186 pound right handed pitcher, athletic build. Consistent balance point, with some effort and rhythm. Athletic finish towards the plate with high ¾ arm slot and repeatable arm speed. Fastball ranged 77-81, with slight natural cut. Curveball showed late 11/5 break, down in the zone, ranging from 66-69 mph. Changeup maintained fastball arm speed, straight movement, around the zone at 69-74 mph.
