PBR ILLINOIS STATE GAMES

Our second annual 2023 PBR Illinois State Games was held on Aug. 8 and 9 at the Rantoul Family Sports Complex in Rantoul, Ill., featuring the top players in the state, spanning grad classes 2024 through 2027. Last year, we hosted the inaugural event which swiftly became a huge success.

In 2023, the Illinois State Games nearly doubled in size, rostering over 300 players of the best players in the state.

Over 30 colleges were represented and in attendance in 2022, and even more attended 2023's event, ranging from more wide-ranging distances. Nearly 100 prospects are now committed who were on last year's event roster who were not committed headed into the State Games, and we're eager to see how many will commit from this year's even larger roster.

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER

Gabriel Vojak OF / Mascoutah, IL / 2024

From the 2024 Takeaways story (8/16/23): "... a scrappy L/L prospect to know from southern Illinois. Compact, strong frame, listed at 5-foot-10, 165-pounds. Was consistently on the barrel throughout the week, finishing 4-for-8 with a home run, double, three RBIs and four runs scored. Showed easy bat-strength in his flat stroke, taking his home run to the opposite field on a pitch up and away. Accurate reads in the outfield with a quick first step, 7.07 runner in the 60. Reached up to 84 mph from the OF in workouts... "

MOST VALUABLE PITCHER

Paddy Roth RHp / St. Patrick, IL / 2026

From the 2026 Takeaways story (8/22/23): "... stands at 6-foot-3, 195 pounds, threw three innings, struck out seven, walked one, allowed no earned runs, and two hits. He features a loose arm with acceleration out front and athletic actions down the mound. Roth’s fastball sat in the mid-80s, topping out at 88.7 mph. Sitting in the upper-70s, his changeup had an average of 16.4 in. of horizontal movement, and he showed the ability to use it effectively and land it for strikes. He rounded out his arsenal with a slider that sat 69-72 mph. Roth looks every bit the part of a high-end follow on the hill in the 2026 class."
